Interesting so the Reina family americanized their name from Riina. Both the Genoveses and Luccheses were founded by Corleonesi.

Well yes. Gaetano Reina was originally a capo in The Morello/Genovese gang and formed his own Family after Guiseppe Morello was imprisoned in 1910.

Ciment maybe just make this its own thread. Toto gonna testify in open court? Is this fake news like a onion article. I mean no one else reporting this or did it just break. After all the years hes openingly discusing mafia bombings crazy. I mean this is breaking omerta. The biggest boss in Sicilian history.

Does this put his kids in danger like how he killed all informants kids or family.

We don't know all that. All we know is that Reina was the boss when he was killed in 1930. The Morello Family split somewhere between 1920 and 1923, with the Reina group getting most of the members and Morello splitting off and bringing in Masseria as the boss. So between 1920/23 and 1930 we have a gap of 7 to 10 years, and it's possible there were other bosses before Reina. We also don't know if Reina was a capodecina since it was possible -- especially back then -- for a respected soldier to get voted in as boss. There have even been people who just got made who were immediately voted in as boss.

It doesn't sound like this guys findings are too legit, some of them are misfounded. Like the names in Critchley's book, he identifies the father of Gaetano Reina, as being someone different than who Critchley named, it seems to be an honest mistake on his part though. He may have found the records of A Gaetano Reina who just may be a cousin of Toto Riina, but it's not all that conclusive if it's thee Gaetano Reina we all know.

Who cares if there 3 cousins once over removed. The big story is toto the beast is set to testify infront of a panel of judges on feb 16. He could solve every mystery in the Sicilian mobs history. He can give up what he nows on mmd. Is he looking for a release date? After 25yrs in prison he's breaking omerta.

Except, thats the only source reporting it, a google search doesn't bring up much less anything in reference to Salvatore Riina testifying in court. I'm still trying to find out more about it.
