At the time of their height, who was more powerful the Taylor St crew from the Chicago outfit or the 116th crew from the Genovese family

Paging Vacari.

"...the successful annihilation of organized crime's subculture in America would rock the 'legitimate' world's foundation, which would ultimately force fundamental social changes and redistributions of wealth and power in this country. Meyer Lansky's dream was to bond the two worlds together so that one could not survive without the other." - Dan E. Moldea

Power is all relative and depends on location.

They were both formidable crews that's for sure..

It depends on the time in question, and I'm not too well versed on Chicago, but I'm going to get the ball rolling and say 116th St. Big in gambling, big in shylocking, waterfront, construction plus Roy Cohn was Tony Salerno's lawyer.
