Good question. Both NY and LA are offering major perks to studios that film in their cities. not necessarily a deal breaker. Some Goodfellas scenes were filmed in Toronto. Kevin Conolly? From Entourage? My early guess is going to be that this is stupid. But I'll give it a chance. Gotti's story is interesting. He believed in the old school values of the mob, but he was such a baby boomer showoff by nature that he couldn't help himself. There was a genuine conflict there. Duality of man, as it were. Travolta's not the worst actor (pulp fiction? Mad City? Saturday Night Fever? Come on, don't be a hater). I'll see it in in the theater. Who's playing Sammy? Sammy was the blue collar representation of John's administration. Who's playing Gotti Jr? This is all key. These actors have to nail it.

I think will film in Cincinnati because has spent all the budget for the actors. However I dont think will be a good movie, the gotti story is too long and complicate for a 2 hours movie and Assante was a better gotti, imo.

I thought Assante was really good as Gotti. Still watch it on youtube every once a while.

Same here, even if it's just that monologue in the beginning of the movie for 5 minutes. I can dream those lines by now LOL

What I liked about Gotti Assante had the walk of the Wiseguy down. Plus assante had a way to make everyone he dealt with seem important in all his movies.

In that way he was a lot,like Tyrone power.

Travolta is no Armand Assante.

They will never make this movie

Armand Assante gave a good performance in "Gotti," but he always plays...Armand Assante. Tom Sizemore was a much more convincing Gotti in "Witness to the Mob," an otherwise dismal film.

Assante was good in Hoffa, too. His look when DeVito shoots the deer with a pistol. lol.

They didn't want to go for the cliché wiseguys this time, they said.
These are all quality actors, without a doubt, but I'm very interested if they can successfully pull off playing a bonafide wiseguy.

Never really cared for Tom Sizemore's portrayal of John Gotti in Witness To The Mob, preferred Assante in Gotti.

Will be interesting to see how Travolta gets on.

Just watched Get Shorty again recently, forgot James Gandolfini was in that too.

Their filming the movie here in Brooklyn on 17 Ave.

My friend, Dominic, got into acting a few years back. After some small roles he got another one, this time with Travolta in the new Gotti movie. That's him in the shades (on the left) with Travolta two days ago in Brooklyn.

Travolta could bring it off. However, Assante should always be awarded any Mafia role first. His performance in American Gangster and as Gotti cements him as the premier mafia actor with the possible exception of DeNiro in his younger days.

I just saw mean streets again recently. I heard DeNiro talk in that. Remember the movie Steven segal was in. He was trying to do a Brooklyn accent.

DeNiro sounded the same way in mean streets.

Mean streets Harvey keitel supposedly vouched for DeNiro to get his loan. You know what that means? It means if DeNiro don't pay keitel pays. The shy would not be looking for DeNiro to pay he would get the money from Harvey.

But....look way back.."Foxes" w/Tatum o'Neal??????1980..he has come a long way chops wise.

the movie is supposed to come out on december 15th.
