Tony Accardo's great-grandson is apparently Ohio State standout defensive end Joey Bosa. Bosa is about to be a very high draft pick in next week's NFL Draft. Story on the Chicago Tribune here.

In doing research, someone on a sports forum came across this old article on Accardo in the Chicago Tribune from 1984. It's several pages long but it's very interesting and you can read the whole thing online at that link. It's interesting to read how much respect the FBI agents had for him during that time.

Accardo, for all of his decades in power, spent one night in jail his entire life. He had his stuff together.

"...the successful annihilation of organized crime's subculture in America would rock the 'legitimate' world's foundation, which would ultimately force fundamental social changes and redistributions of wealth and power in this country. Meyer Lansky's dream was to bond the two worlds together so that one could not survive without the other." - Dan E. Moldea

San Diego Chargers took Joey with the 3rd pick.
