What countries can an boss of a cartel or an organized crime syndicate live freely and flaunt his wealth?

Im talking in terms of he doesn't have to hide who he his from the feds like the old school bosses in NY, and can show off his money and has obvious bodyguards etc.

I've been trying to reading up on the Yakuza recently but it seems maybe that they live better than wiseguys in the US?

Countries like Russia, Belarus, and Venezuela come to mind.

I you could put North Korea in that catagory as well. Esp. considering the ruling family in NK makes alot of it's money from organized crime.

No way. All the powerful bosses must hide until the 1992 the bosses can be free but after Riina declare war to the italian state, all the bosses of the mafias go on the lam even before be indicted.

I say Mexico,Colombia or Japan.

Thanks for the info Furio.

Did Riina's attack on the government increase scrutiny on Cosa Nostra bosses or on Comorra and N'drangheta bosses too?

Yes Jhype11 after thr Falcone and Borsellino dead Riina in the 92-93 placed bombs all over Italy and even thinked to take syringes with aids blood and left it on the Beaches.
But the italian people rise and the state arrested Riina and many bosses of mafia, camorra and ndrangheta and at some point the mafia was almost done in the sense that with most of the old boss in 41 bis regime and many on the lam the state was at the point that the mafia could had a hit that would reduce it as shadow of it was.
But the change was lost and with Provenzano and the submarine strategy the mafia recovered his power.

Peru renewed extradition. Belarus, Indonesia, and South Africa. Mexico has extradition. A lot of people pick Russian and that is a bad ideal. North Korea will welcome you, then take all your money and throw you in prison.
