I was searching the internet for some information about the L.A family in the 30s to the mid 50s when Dragna was in controll. All I could find was that he resented Bugsy Siegel for his ability to control the Movie Industry Unions, which Dragna was unsuccessful at. Then he raged war with Mickey Cohen. I have some questions, and some of you here have probably read a book or something that can answer.

I wonder how many members did the LA family have during it's height, I know Dragna recruited from Chicago, Cleveland and Detroit (Probably other places as well)
And any other information would be great, I like learning about Mob families that I don't have alot of information on.

The L.A family was at the height of its power during Nick Licata's days but during Dragna's days they probably never exceeded 60 members

Sidney Korshak was NOT a soldier in the LA mob.

Right on Korshak, if anything, he woulda been a conduit from which they received orders..

Plus he ran the entertainment industry...

Ray was Cleveland. Jack had a strong family, but he lacked venues. DeSimone made the family worst after a few busts in the late 1950s, and yearly 1960s. The Weasel crippled the family, not many convictions when he turned, but LE got a good sense of that familys operations.
