How does a Mafia Bookies work?

Might sound like a dumb question but how are they different than a normal Bookies and what makes people go to them instead?

Your more likely to be paid on a big parlay

If he is independent and smaller less a chance

Even if govt legalizes bookmaking , the other
Book will have a big advantage from a tax and credit perspective

Yep biggest issue I would say is the "losers" can get on credit, and the ones that win don't want to be filing SHIT on taxes.

besides the cash payouts and no taxes, the main reason that people bet with a bookie is to lay their sports action. If you want to bet on football, basketball, baseball, hockey, etc (both pro and college), and you don't live in Nevada, the only way to go is with your neighborhood bookmaker. I know you can do the offshore online route, but it's very risky. The US Gov't can shut down their operations, freeze their assets, and put your money in the phantom zone.

If the US ever legalized sports betting, the bookies would take a hit on their operations, but it would be comparable to the legalization of state lotteries. There would still be enough left over to make a nice living.

Why is bookmaking still illegal in many parts of the USA? Would it not make sense to legalize it and use it an extra tax revenue. In the likes of the UK it's all relegated and you'll find multiple betting shop chains operating in every town and city district. Sports betting is a huge part of the culture and always has been.

Gambling on sports is illegal because the government in this country is stupid. In Jersey they want to put a book in the racetrack at the meadowlands. State govt keeps saying no.

I would rather use a regular bookie than go there to place a bet a couple times a week, but don't you think a lounge in there would make huge money? Just think, guys going there every football Sunday, eating drinking all day. Bets would be ridiculous. Easy money for the state and yet they keep saying no.

There already is a nice lounge in the meadowlands , it would probably do pretty good with gambling, I agree , it does well for the big horse events as that's when I generally go

Also I saw someone posted before that sports gambling has decreased from the old days . This is just my opinion but I disagree with that statement , the Internet and Costa Rica has been a boon for sports gambling ( LCN or independent ) , I agree tho the gambling halls back in the day have decreased , but at least by me and I'm sure in every NYC Burroughs , bookies ( actually agents , who knows who the bank is ) are everywhere and so are gamblers . If I wanted 10 different books just within 1 mile of where I live , it would be done in a day or 2, they are everywhere lol

Legal or illegal that business is going no where , and if these guys are smart they would get into all these fantasy gambling sites that are legal , somewhat similar to how traditional shy locking has evolved into legit or semi legit financing companies . These guys are just more on the level it seems these days and in some scenarios having legit $ backing them.

Construction is booming , most disagree with me on NJ garbage and they are probably right but IMO I just can't see a LCN free carting industry , my town has 2 major ones that are in . Then you hear about that big money laundering cases , I eat at that place at least once a month and you would have no clue ( at least me anyway lol ) , the smart ones have definately gone underground and legit , the Cowboys appear gone

Why not just copy the Wall Street model and instead of cash bribes you do it legit thru legit invoices , Corp card dinners , etc.

The key to future LCN ( IMO ) is part CIA in terms of compartmentalizing info and disinformation and doing what Wall Street does to leverage business deals. It's all on the level , many on this site that work on Wall Street know what I'm talking about , relationship and leverage is the name of winning new biz or contracts , the entire system is built almost entirely on that and expense accounts , bribes are done and should be as there is no need to do something illegal when you can do it legally thru one of your companies and it's probably why we see less white collar busts today

You are spot and they would have these "lounges" all over America if it was legal and people would go to hang out and watch football or whatever...I love sitting on my couch or going to the local bar and betting off my phone or computer whatever...i can go to the local bar and bet off my phone while talking to my bookie who owns the bar and its just a great way to spend a saturday/sunday and get out of the house....losing sucks but hey good times

Yeah my bro has been there for over 10 years now

I'm a PSU grad so Texas az is the best IMO but as you know there are 20 other bars that are good , wicked wolf is good too

I was at TXS Az for the PSU vs ru game and the place was rocking at 4pm for an 8pm game and I mean rocking . Txs az is a PSU bar and the bar next door was the RU bar so that area right outside the path was nuts

I actually like RU but after getting into at least 5 near fights last year at queens and near the stadium I must admit it was nice to dominate them this year as last year the RU college kids were obnoxious . I admit , I wore my PSU jersey and I fully expect the usual banter but please don't make it personal and please don't go after my younger brother . I played CFB so I was too big for them but what an obnoxious bunch , they clearly don't get big time CFB football yet

However it's awesome they joined the B10 as now CFB fans will see some good teams in MI , OSU, PSU, Neb etc . Nearby . The one thing the NYC area has been sorley missing is some big time CFB and finally it's here and pretty cool

Last years pin stripe bowl with PSU vs BC at Yankee stadium was awesome too

Crazy how bookmaking is still illegal in America. There's 3 bookie shops on every corner over here.

From what I understand, college ball isn't as big a deal over there as it is here, no? Most opposition in the US comes from the NCAA, as "amateur" athletes might be in danger from point-shaving schemes.

Maybe Pennsylvania will start the ball rolling for legalized sports betting (outside of Nevada,of course).

HARRISBURG, Sept. 23 – House Gaming Oversight Committee Democratic Chairman Nick Kotik announced his plan to introduce legislation that would legalize sports betting within Pennsylvania's licensed casinos.

"Sports betting is extremely popular in this state, yet it is going unregulated," Kotik said. "The intent of this legislation is to provide our casinos with an alternative form of entertainment, while also regulating a popular market.

"While slot machines and table games are a relatively new industry for Pennsylvania, this bill is a direct reflection of the gamut gaming runs and why expanded forms should be considered."
Under Kotik's legislation, the in-state rules and regulations pertaining to legalized sports betting would be determined by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
Specifically, the bill would create an exemption under the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act that currently prevents wagers from being placed on any professional or amateur athletic event in Pennsylvania.

Additionally, Kotik is the author of a bill that would authorize specific Pennsylvania airports to operate slot machines within terminal boundaries.
House Bill 1408 would apply to six international airports in the state: Erie International Airport, Harrisburg International Airport, Lehigh Valley International Airport, Philadelphia International Airport, Pittsburgh International Airport and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport.

"As a whole, we are at a critical time in this state in terms of funding streams and funding needs – ones that go far beyond our gaming industry," Kotik said. "I welcome a serious discussion on these expanded forms of gaming to not just stay ahead of the curve, but to invest real dollars into where they're needed most to put the state back on track."

Yeah I'm in London at least once a year and that's the best part about it IMO lol

I agree the US treatment of gambling is just insane

It's legal in Nevada for all gambling , Delaware you can do the football parlays , then non sports gambling is in a lot of states now

Then you horse gambling legal but sports is in most states . Talk about inconsistent laws but I'm glad sports is still illegal to some extent as they know what they are doing , the state handling it will just F it up I'm sure and tax the hell out of it where it's impossible to win .

Then you have to factor in all the super risky securities Wall Street pushes to retail customers and the laws are really upside down

DB, yeah Tx Az is a huge PSU bar! I'm thinking of buying in downtown Newark, a condo to live in and as an investment- I see downtown Newark with the rock, transportation to NYC, iron bound, etc as the next real estate boom here in jersey. What do you think?

Hoboken still has sh*tty schools and anyone who bought there when it was a dump in the 1970s (comparably to Newark) are all multi millionaires now.

Omg that's terrible , I loved that place , was just there too

Like i said do what you feel is right but I've been next to newark for a long time now as I'm sure you have . It's cheap there I know but demographics still aren't there yet , shoot i wouldn't even invest on that side of Bellville , but I'm no expert , just don't think Newark or Harrison get the same month bump boken and then JC got years ago
