I always thought it was strange that merlino would be all over social media with his friends.
It just occurred to me why he does it. Its an insurance policy for his defense.
Think about it. Any time a mob guy goes on trial the prosecution brings out a bunch of pictures and video's of wiseguys hanging out to prove they are meeting as a criminal organization.
The fact that he is on twitter, instagram, and facebook with all his friends, he can easily show that they are just a bunch of friends having innocent fun. If it was an illegal organization, why would he be all over instagram with his friends for the world to see ???
I think all of these pics are strategy and he wants everyone to see them. I really do.

I don't think it would matter, honestly. You might (but probably not when you're very clearly a gangster, former or current) win in the court of public opinion, but that won't mean much when you're being convicted by the state.

The courts don't care what you appear to be doing in pictures on facebook, all they will care about is that he is violating the terms of his parole by hanging out with gangsters.

Not a defense strategy, he just loves getting his picture took.

Imagine high ranking Ny mobsters on Instagram? just goes to show he's never been CN, the merlino crew are just a bunch of street thug friends who are loyal to each other, you have to respect that loyalty though, they've never turned on each other.

I heard someone say 'It's just the social media times we live in, it's natural' Is it fuck, I had Facebook for about 6 months, full of attention seeking aresholes. Never been on Instagram, and I'm 24. merlino came up in the 70/80's, the internet didn't really take off until 20 years later. You see any other made guys on Instagram? Merlino just likes the attention.

Why is anyone surprised?

Even though many of us still believe he is boss, or in the life at the very least...he is posing as retired and is no longer committing crimes so why would he not be on social media? It is part of his retired act.

So the guy has an Instagram, big deal. Not like everyone doesn't know who he is anyway. Also, he doesn't put up any pics that are even close to incriminating. I understand how it might seem ridiculous, but if you didn't know who he was already its just another guys page.

At least he has people talking about his social media account instead of his rackets.

He's an idiot though and will be doing 20+ years before he's sixty.

That's right BlackJack and you all will see the shitshow he will put on . The guy was away through all the social media bull shit and he is out using it in his shitshow...

It must be a game he is playing ,I can not see any other gangsters going along with this shit ,unless they figure that the ass will draw all the LE his way.
If this was done back in the day he would be in the street ,crazy shit ...

A lot of the photo's are actually on other peoples Instagrams, his is private.

Wags, Wags sister, Dad, etc is where most of these pics are coming from.

But he is posing for the pictures so obviously he knows they are being taken, and he replies to some of them so he knows they are up somewhere.

But he is "retired" remember? So why not? whistle

Merlino just has that X Factor that Gotti had. You can even see it here with the thinly veiled support he has.

You can see how he has people around him that would literally die and go to prison for him.

I invoke my right under the 5th amendment of the United States constitution and decline to answer the question.

Merlino isn't the only one using social media, seems like they all are aside from Mikey Lance and George Borgesi who might be the only smart ones.

Joeys account is Joeysnm . if you type that or Joe Slim you will find it but he needs to accept you, which he will, before you can see his pictures.
