Interesting. But just for the record, Calvanese isn't a captain. So the term "crew chief" is a bit of a stretch wink.

Boy, you guys always say these guys don't have two nickles to rub together and in a sh&thole like Springfield one guy gets caught with $750K and the other $800K, not to bad of a bankroll if you ask me...

..... in a ceremony that was overseen by reigning don Peter (Crazy Horse) Limone and took place in the basement of a restaurant in the North End. According to these sources, acting boss Anthony (Spucky) Spagnolo and high-ranking captain Matthew (Good Looking Matty) Guglielmetti were in attendance as well.

They boys are back at it, in a basement of a North End restaurant, CLASSIC, right out of a movie...

@ azguy:

In our exchange in the other thread, I went out of my way to clarify something for you and to credit you for being one of the better posters here. It boiled down to this: I said that the Westside pulled their skipper from Springfield, and they have. I never said anything about the Boston or New England families.

If you read my posts regularly, you'll notice that I basically post about one area and a couple of Families in particular. Guys who claim "inside information" about ten different cities are the easiest to spot as bullshit artists. A wiseguy's world is usually no bigger than his own neighborhood.

Re this article: It's interesting, and it jibes with what I said to you last week in the other thread. That the Westside pulled their skipper up there. And they did. Calvanese isn't a captain, and I'd bet my right arm that he isn't going to become one.

PB, my comment was more in general and not directed at you at all.... It was more about the thread if Skinny could put together $250K or not or anyone in the Philly mob could.....along with the constant talk of "broke-sters"...

...maybe these guys made this bankroll off of crank or H and maybe that's easy to do if you wanna deal in that...

My point was this is a good bank roll for anyone, never mind a couple of schmucks in Springfield

And you're spot-on. Crooks are gonna follow the money, no matter where they are or what they call themselves (whether it's Cosa Nostra or some gang set).

It's been like that since the beginning of time, and it will always be that way because there will always be criminal minded people in this world wink smile.

I've always disagreed with those who claim the mob is full of brokesters. That is as untrue as those who believe all mob guys are millionaires. You do have some on both ends but it seems the majority of them are more or less middle class.

I'm not sure who JoetheBoss is talking about but I'd advise taking Scott's article at face value. He seems to be quick to slap ranks on guys, as well as exaggerate some things. It remains to be seen what Calvanese is and since when is Limone the "reigning don?" I've seen him listed as the acting boss at one point but not the official boss. At least not anything that I would call definitive.

I should also add that a 30-something guy like Arilotta (who ended up flipping) being made into the Genovese family has always seemed out of character for them and I've wondered if it was because the cupboard was pretty bare up there and it was slim pickings.

Little known fact, and I've posted it before. But the Westside pipeline didn't run up I95, it ran up the Taconic.

It's been reported a million times that Fat Tony spent much of his time up in Rhinebeck when he got older. And that he was practically living there for his last few years on the street. But the truth is, he had property up there since the fifties, and he encouraged a lot of his closest friends to buy property in Columbia and Dutchess Counties. Because they had a small, but little-known crew up in Pittsfield, which is maybe a half hour ride up the Taconic.

Manhattan-the Bronx-White Plains-Rhinebeck-Pittsfield-Springfield. That was the way it ran from at least the early '60s through the late '80s.

The Pittsfield crew is gone altogether now except for an ancient Westsider who's happy to loan a little money here and there. It's funny because I just mentioned him the other day. He's gotta be ninety and he still wears tailored clothes, God love him smile.

The people who post that crap are the same people who count their neighbor's money, or claim that Betsy in the accounting department is a whore. Gossips who don't know shit, but claim these things because they have to be a part of every conversation (or in the case of a message board, every thread).

Right on point, and it fits right in with what I've been posting about them pulling their skipper out of the area. And don't think losing Artie to a life sentence because of those nitwits didn't play a huge part in that decision.

I honestly found the article interesting because I don't follow the New England families. But as far as this Westside "crew chief" stuff goes, this Calvanese guy ain't a skipper. The article says he's an admitted recovering drug addict. Yeah, Ernie and Barney are gonna sign-off on him rolleyes.

You nailed it Ivy. All due respect to Scott, and I do appreciate his info (apparently his site is a paysite again), I agree that his titles for some of these guys are a bit much. What exactly is a 'mafia baron' anyways? If that means that Arillotta was a dim-witted, conniving, duplicitous, murderous thug, then I guess he was a mafia baron after all.

I don't necessarily doubt his facts, but he may color in the edges so to speak.

"Color in the edges"? You do realize he is reporting on the mob...it's not cut and dry like recording MLB rosters and stats.

I mean he is a journalist...and if not for him there is a lot of stuff about the smaller families that would never be posted or discussed on the board

Some people appreciate the fact he is a source for places like Philly and Detoit, Boston...places outside the Big 5 that we don't get to hear as much about

I guess.

It's the same few guys, and the same bickering and nit picking at Scott's articles every thread.

If some of you have such a problem with his work, don't read it...don't post about it.

Why even come into threads about new articles from him if you guys just complain about him? lol I personally don't get it.

You can see the job site from 95....it is huge

Gonna fucking blow the doors off the horseshoe casino and Maryland Live...Gonna be bigger than them both combined easily.

Why even come into threads about new articles from him if you guys just complain about him? lol I personally don't get it.

I like Scott and his articles but it is okay to acknowledge the flaws in his writing.

But nearly every thread and the same people? Like okay we get it!!

Well, you aren't one of the cases I am really talking about anyway. Some people are much worse with it...outright dismiss a lot of his articles...yet continue to read them and then put him down online.
Almost like they read his articles to hate on him, instead of stopping reading his articles

I guess.

It's the same few guys, and the same bickering and nit picking at Scott's articles every thread.

If some of you have such a problem with his work, don't read it...don't post about it.
