Relatively young, only 61.

Feel bad for the family, the guy recently gets out of jail only to get a heart attack a few months later.

Wonder who'll steer the ship up North for the Bino's now?

PB any thoughts?

MORGAN: Why didn't you fight him at the park if you wanted to? I'm not goin' now, I'm eatin' my snack.
CHUCKIE: Morgan, Let's go.
MORGAN: I'm serious Chuckie, I ain't goin'.
WILL: So don't go.

Short term? The little guy, as old as he is. Long term? At this point, I couldn't car less. I'm still in shock. But Dean will finally get straightened out when he comes home. But that's two years down the line. Braciole has a nephew based in Port Chester. He's not a household name, so I'll leave it at that.

Doesn't matter. Because with Tony gone, they'll finally get absorbed into Westchester and the Bronx. It almost happened fifteen years ago when Tony went back in on a violation. But Braciole stopped it for Tony's sake. Well, Tony's gone and Braciole's pretty much retired. So it is what it is.

Man, he hasn't even been out a year, 61 is no age regardless of what he's done.

He couldn't stay out of prison, Nicky. He was just too aggressive--which is usually a good trait in any business--but not up there. I mean no disrespect by this because I have a lot of friends in lower Connecticut. But it's a rat state.

In the past year, Stamford has lost virtually every one of their big moneymakers from the '80s. Johnny "Stoogie" DePoli, Taylor Breton, Johnny Rosa and now Tony. 25 years ago if you went on a casino junket to the Showboat with them, you'd easily see a million in craps bets over a weekend. Taylor was about Tony's age. At one time, the Feds called him the biggest gambler in the United States. But he ran a fucking HUGE sports office out of Greenwich of all places. His daughter had to borrow money to bury him. A gambler's story.

Stoogie lived a long life. He was like 91 or 92 when he died. He was a love him or hate him kind of guy. I loved him. He could stand at a craps table for twelve hours. But he didn't leave much money behind either. Johnny Rosa was up there in age, too. He didn't make as much as the other guys I mentioned, but he was a great guy. His nephew ran a big office up there years ago, too.

And Tony? He was counting on Football to get back in action. He was also talking about getting something legit going with the golf course concessions up there. He had the right guy, too. It's a fucking shame.

His family's gonna have some debt. He did a ton of fucking time overall. I hope they do the right thing, but I'm not holding my breath.

Tony has a chance at Purgatory, albeit a minor one. If Greg's not in Hell, the place doesn't exist.

Pmac, it depends on what part of the state your from.

I'd say the Southwestern area is really tri-state. Anywhere else is pretty New England-ish.

Stamford is a big gambling town. I was kind of shocked to see it. Everyone I know that moved there become involved in betting big money all of a sudden. All of the kids I knew that grew up in Stamford were real heavy into it. To each their own. Gambling, specifically sports gambling, not really my thing. It is a losing proposition.

He's speaking in mob terms. Traditionally, from Bridgeport on down, you answered to New York. And the demarcation line has crept up to include most of New Haven.

Tony was very well respected, and well liked, too (the two rarely go hand-in-hand in that life). So New York lived with the status quo. But now that he's gone, and with the Sicilians clearly in charge, Stamford is going to be completely divvied up by the Bronx and Westchester crews. I wouldn't even be shocked to see a Jersey guy looking around up there.

Oh. I can never tell when pmac is talking about the mob or not. Honestly, I thought he was talking about the Patriots and the Jets/Giants.

It gets boring... Food isn't that good, either. If you want good food in CT go further north on 95.

There are like 5 bars in Stamford that people in their 20s like to go to. This is a city of over 100,000 people, a lot of them young. There is definitely a demand for more...

But for a visit? Yeah, definitely a good time.

Who's Dean under? I read he met with Stefaneli. Also Mario Antonicelli was another name mentioned. Dellaratta directly?

Who's running those crews? Bracciole was the only skipper I knew of with that family and if you say he's retiring...
Also Westchester?

Thanks in advance mate.

He grew up on the west side. He eventually settled over by the old Hubbard Heights after he got married. Nice area, unassuming home. But after he went away the last time his wife had to take an apartment. For the three billionth time, the life ain't a movie.

Wow, 61? For some reason I thought Megale was a lot older than that. This is quite a shock, and its two behind the ears for the Stamford crew. Like PB said, without Megale all will be divvied up and divided by pretty much all of the top captains now.

Not to make light of the situation but I loved that line he was waiting on football season

Not sure you are going to find a more accurate statement about a wise guy than that . Just well said

Money flowing everywhere come foots season , not to mention package guys working all day everyday lol . Rest of the year maybe not so much but I'll tell you what , last years World Cup IMO opened up some people eyes to soccer , I can vouch that in the nwk area , a lot of volume

Also With all those hedge fund kids in CT, I can see how that area can be a very lucrative gambling area , talk about whales . As PB said I can see a lot of guys planting their flag there .

I work with some of these hesge fund guys and owners... All Jews... All loaded... But all very scared of Greece.

I work with a guy worth 100m. His father was in the business. What kind of wiseguy around here can handle the kind of action someibd like that needs? I'd say most of these guys gamble on markets and just enjoy their sports.

Mario IS the little guy.

Dean's a complicated story. His Mom was a hairdresser, she just passed away a few months ago. He comes from an honest, working class family. But his Mom cut hair for Nicky Melia for years. That's how he ended up fascinated with the life. But Nicky was never technically a Gambino associate.

Nicky's brother Vince was a heavyweight with the Calabrians in Hartford, with ties all the way up to Montreal. But Nicky set Dean up with Tony when he was barely out of high school and Tony was still a just a soldier. But when push comes to shove, Tony was in jail for most of Dean's adult life, so you can't hold Tony responsible for "schooling" him. Because Dean's a cowboy.

Believe it or not, Funzi ended up with a lot of the Bronx crew now that Greg's dead, Braciole is basically retired, and Tore and Richie want no part of the life. Not to mention the fact that Andy, another guy once called a "rising star," would LOVE to take his money and run to Florida himself. But it's harder for some guys than it is for others wink.

I'm not taking anything away from Boston or the Patriarcas, so please, don't jump down my throat if you're a New England guy. But those flags will be coming up to Connecticut, not down from Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

It's really not even open to debate. When you already own the dumps, the weigh stations and twenty small garbage companies (two and three trucks max), the road is already paved for you (or to be more precise, the people behind you) to expand a little bit.
