Sigmund the sea monster... Are you joking, or are you talking about Mikey Hop's kid? Both morons, both rats. The apple didn't fall far from the tree there. And anyone who says that the son didn't technically rat is fooling themselves. The old man ratted to save the son twenty years, so Steven was a party to it. Greg DePalma did as much damage to the Gambino family as Gotti, maybe more. They should have let the Westside hit him after the Premiere Theatre. But he owed them so much fucking money over that clusterfuck that the Gambinos made him instead, just to protect their investment. He wasn't half the earner people think he was. He had what he was wearing, driving, and what was in his pocket. Tony Baker must have been spinning in his grave for every one of Greg's fuck ups.

PB who's 'Tony Baker'?
Cheers. An old time Gambino heavy who was Harlem based. The Gambinos are hardly ever mentioned when it comes to East Harlem back then, but they were around. Anyway, Tony had a club on First Avenue, by Andy's Colonial Tavern. Greg was there constantly and up his ass for years. Considering his attitude and ego, Greg probably figured he'd inherit the crew one day (which eventually went to Braciole, who also had a club in East Harlem at the time, on the 115th Street side of Mount Carmel Church).

PB are you known among your real life friends as someone with a great memory? Because honestly the more I read what you write the more impressive you are. Thank you. I do have a good long term memory, but I couldn't tell you what I had for dinner two nights ago. And that IS honestly something that's been mentioned to me by my family and friends . Have you ever considered writing a history of oc? No, that's not an option for me. But thanks again. It'd probably have to be limited in scope to the Bronx and manhatten because that's another thing I appreciate is that you don't speak on what you don't absolutely know but brother you absolutely know a lot. Thanks yet again. The easiest way to spot a bullshitter on these sites are the guys who claim to have firsthand knowledge of multiple areas. Like that asshole The Arm, who knew everyone from New York to Chicago to Florida. The notion is absurd, and here's why: For ninety percent of wiseguys, their world is no bigger than their neighborhood (especially when the Italian strongholds were at their peak here in New York). Even today, go ask a made guy in New York if he knows what's going on in Detroit or Chicago, and he'll give you an even more confused look than he was born with. But thanks again. All of that was nice of you to say .

MORGAN: Why didn't you fight him at the park if you wanted to? I'm not goin' now, I'm eatin' my snack. CHUCKIE: Morgan, Let's go. MORGAN: I'm serious Chuckie, I ain't goin'. WILL: So don't go.

The arm was the guy who was going to take the war to the Colombos front doorstep right? Something about him being a one time young gun from Rochester, while at the same time knowing everything about Chicago Rockford IL and NY Yes, that was The Arm. And like I said, a wiseguy's world is usually confined to his own neighborhood. So if a guy claims "inside knowledge" of ten different cities, he's talking right out of his ass. Of course, the researchers are an entirely different story. Guys like Hairy, Ivy, Atardi, et al. are tireless when it comes to familiarizing themselves with the history of multiple cities. But they don't claim to be insiders. That's the difference, and it's a BIG one .

Sigmund the sea monster... Are you joking, or are you talking about Mikey Hop's kid? Both .. always laugh my ass off at that nickname... its hilarious when Gotti makes fun of his son by mentioning Sigmund in that jailhouse video. Even funnier is that he really looks like the t.v. character.... knew the brother Mike... used to be a really good ball player. Obviously not my favorite mobster... just crack up at that name every time.

I don't have a favorite, but I am intrigued by Tony Mirra and Neil delacroce. Probably because I haven't found vast amounts of info on them but they seem like they have a hell of a story behind them. Carmine Galante is interesting too
