It mentions that the ring was mob connected but doesn't say what family? Weird. If it's based in Rockland county it's gotta be westside or lucchese I'm assuming.

Rockand county is very genovese centric. Looks like the bust stemmed from the earlier gambling pinch with a bunch of west side guys.

Those guys are all with Danny's guy in Ho-Ho-Kus. He's never been named, so I'm not posting it. But I have a feeling that there might be a rat in the last case because this indictment was brought so soon after.

The good news for the Westside is that they're all just bookies and gamblers in this new case. So if there IS a rat in the last case, and this the best the G could do, if I'm a captain downstate, I'm not losing any sleep over this.

Freaking pathetic use of resources

There is a Mexican infused heron epidemic and a terrorist group trying to get at us

Any resources dedicated to an old man gambling club is a freaking joke

PB what's your thoughts on the 25% reference

Is that accurate ? A way to maneuver around usury interest rate laws . I think NY is 30% annually like NJ

Wonder if lit was done legit , via finance companies , that's the trend now anyway

What exactly is that law? If you charge more than 25% interest on a personal loan then it's considered usury? Is there a certain timeframe on a loan.
My wife was born in TX, we go out there for a month some winters and there are legit payday loan places in every corner out there. It seems like a sound business but when someone doesn't pay its actually pretty hard to get your money back. Especially if they are unemployed and have no bank accounts.

It could be a pre-emptive measure. NY and NJ were among the first states to deregulate PayDay loans.

My gut feeling is that as soon as the Feds have the resources to spare, they'll make the PayDay loans illegal across the board, and even the "friendly" offshore islands will be prohibited from making them.

And that's when small time shylocking will reappear (50 a week for 13 weeks on a five hundred dollar loan). That's a give or take number, by the way. But you know what I mean. And the Feds will start breaking balls there again.

This shit is a revolving door. It evolves, but the Feds are never that far behind. Like you say, a seventy-year-old goombah is still a better headline than a raghead shoe-bomber.

Wow it keeps coming back up !

Your last sentence PB is dead on. And they will continue to reap the headlines and the dollar signs..
I posted this in a other thread.
Mayor Giuliani is cashing in on the mafia ,as he calls it.
He is heading a series special that will run for weeks or months ? It will air on A&E and it starts soon ,and he says how he brought down the mafia.

Not just that, and I've posted his before because very few people know this (but they SHOULD):

It's Giuliani's security company that runs the background checks for the New York City building department today. Every new construction bid in this city has to be approved by his people. This doesn't apply to existing structures (where you can still earn real money). But for the new highrises? It all has to go through him and his people. Wiseguy companies don't have a prayer there. And the cocksucker is on salary for a few million a year.

Well, you know, like my critics and some researchers say, when you throw enough darts against a wall, you'll eventually hit a bullseye. I guess I got lucky.

I posted it here fifty times (and I admit that I was cryptic about it most of the time, which pisses some people off, and I can understand fully). But Danny's very heavy, he's still relatively young, and he's as close to QD as QD lets anyone get to him. He was in the Bronx every day, all the way from Rockland.

Ernie's boy has the spot in his absence. But he may very well end up keeping it. Because Danny could come home a panel member wink.

No, and like I said in the thread about Giuliani, I loved him as mayor and would have voted for him again (It's funny how Bloomy was against term limits back then). It was only after his post 9/11 self-adulation that Giuliani turned me off.

It's the point. He used his mafia busting reputation to secure the background checks job. And I know for a fact there have been instances where people have been turned down contracts because of who their great uncle or grandfather was.

This happened to a cousin of mine who's as straight arrow as a Tea Partier, but 110% sincere in his convictions. It's not political whatsoever. The kid never had so much as a fucking parking ticket. He poured the concrete at the FEDERAL BUILDING on Quarropas Street in White Plains, yet he was denied a contract in Battery Park City because his grandfather was a skipper on 116th steet (and the kid was only eight years old when his grandfather passed away)

You're all about the downtrodden, equal rights, and a million other liberal causes (and that's all admirable, by the way). So tell me. Is this right? Is this America?

The fucking Kennedys went from running booze to a political dynasty in a single generation. One generation for the Irish is okay, but with the guineas three isn't enough to pour concrete? And it's not lost on me that Giuliani's Italian-American, so please don't go there.

The Irish got here first, with a basic grasp of the language. So they secured the political and city jobs for themselves. And don't get me wrong, the Italians would have done the same thing. It's human fucking nature to take care of your own. But there's still a bias is this country against Italian Americans if they're in a certain industry. Even when they're straight as an arrow. Like my cousin.

That all depends on how much these other guys are charging. If they are keeping costs similar to what the wiseguys did, then, in my opinion, what's the difference if you have wiseguy companies working the sites? I would think that the purpose of keeping the mob out of construction projects would be to bring the costs down, because that's the issue with them. But maybe non-connected companies are keeping the costs down, I doubt it but I don't know for sure.

PB is right when it comes to Rudy. This guy has been milking his mob busting for so long, his whole spiel comes out like bullshit now, especially now that I realize he was a pretty shady fuck to begin with.

Lol @ how no Long Island police force is credited in that press release. Meaning they probably had little clue on any bookmaking in Franklin Square, especially Genovese connected, or maybe they did. But lol, our police force sucks. But why would anyone flip and tell on any of these low level guys? But if the feds are ultimately fishing for a bigger catch, like what's suggested in this thread, then I can certainly understand it. And Willie Boy Johnson was outed as doing something similar, so...

What you describe is absolutely not fair. Of course it isn't. I would never say it is.

But you're also a big stop and frisk guy. Should Italians civil liberties be valued more than blacks?

Btw, these are just hypotheticals. I implore you not to take them personally.

@MightyHealthy; Politics and race are debates which never fair well for either side. You are incredibly respectful and polite but I kindly ask the matter be dropped or redirected back to the thread topic as these things rarely end well or are productive.

Again, commend you on your manner.

Yeah that's fine. I hate discussing politics and race on here too.

I just trusted PB to give a thoughtful response & was interested in what he had to say.

@Mighty

I opened my pm for you. Again. And I did the work this time and made the first post. All you have to do is read it and reply.

Good post, Sonny. Cooler heads and all. I don't know what I'd do without you.

It's my father. It's killing me. And I have to either stop posting or learn to leave the anger off the board.

Good post, Sonny. Cooler heads and all. I don't know what I'd do without you.

It's my father. It's killing me. And I have to either stop posting or learn to leave the anger off the board.

I know this post is meant for Sonny but I'm going to cut in here if I may. Pizza take a break from the boards. It will do you a world of goodness. You will not be letting any of us down. Please take care of your father and yourself first.

I mean, look. Is this bad? To we want Mafia controlled companies building highrises in NYC?

Dude quit your whining. Every post you make is you getting offended over every little thing.

It was a question.
