They spoke a bit on Giancana's rise in the book, The Outfit by Gus Russo. I find it very interesting how Giancana was basically given his start in the big money rackets, by a black gangster like Eddie Jones. It seems that at one point early on Giancana was extremely close to Jones and his group of ethnic racketeer's, much more so than he was early on with Outfit guys.

That was just his( Giancana's) way to weasel his way into Eddie rackets in order to usurp it from him. I doubt there was any true genuine friendship on Giancanas part.

I don't think so. The Outfit book goes a bit more in depth with Giancana's relationship with Jones & his Outfit. Giancana had a name and a reputation for himself as a bit of a hothead and nutcase. He really wasn't affiliated early on with a lot of Outfit guys. Jones gave him his start, and it was profitable relationship for both men, and Giancana learned about the Numbers rackets and the money it made through Jones and his operations. When Jones was arrested and sent to prison, Giancana was still conducting business with his Outfit. Once he and Accardo got close, that's when he shifted to being more of an Outfit guy.

With Giancana's reputation, I don't think had he had no sort of mutual respect for Jones, that he'd give him money and offer him a way out, which is what he did. He probably would've just killed him from the start.

Thanks Mickey!....I can almost bet that once the producers of this documentary know it is on youtube, the link will stop working.

Glad I watched it all.
