I thought LA was defunct or that there are only a few guys left but that there is no structure.

Don's look for anything Italian, but other than Enzo's, there are couple of places that the remnants of the LA family still living in the area get together every now and again. If your looking to see a wiseguy try 757 Westwood Plaza.

who was the Gambino guy in la that was doing shy loans out in front of some high end shopping center in like Beverly hills? forgot his name he got arrest somewhat recently. within a year or 2...
im really curious how shy is still a top money maker..in this day and age I could see a shy book getting buried by literally no one paying the vig or have intentions to pay it back at all.. how do they really get people to actually pay up since the fear factor isn't really there anymore?

You could look at the houses owned by the old Mob bosses, but there's nothing current. A lot of the original Mafiosi lived in the Lincoln Heights area.

That's the chart of what remains of the family:

1. Louis "Little Louie" Caruso - owns Golden Air, Inc. and Caruso Mechanical Services in Phoenix, AZ
2. Michael "Porno Mike" Esposito - owns Gentleman's Video (adult film company) in Los Angeles, CA
3. Thomaso "Tommy" Gambino/43 - runs Royal Entertainment, Inc
4. Russell "Rusy" Massetta/61 - was made in Los Angeles, now lives in Cleveland, married to Pete Milano's sister
5. Leonardo "Limping Lenny" Montana - bookmaker, owns Enzo's Pizzeria in Los Angeles, CA
6. Robert "Fat Bobby" Paduano/70 - involved in 1991 drug case, loanshark
7. John "Johnny V" Vaccaro/73 - lives in Las Vegas, in Nevada "Black Book," owns Four Square Construction Co
8. Rocco "Rocky Bigfoot" Zangari/82 - moved back to Buffalo, inactive

Possible Members:

Nice Furious. Furio, my iPhone wants to call u Furious lol
So there are ACTUAL PEOPLE like REAL live Italian street people out here ?? Like 2 guys lmao.

Back in the late 70's my Pops came out here to work for UniLever. My Godfather always tells this story. He gets off the plane, goes to this seedy motel in LA with the other company transfers from Jersey. They go to the LA plant. Get settled in. The first thing out my Pop's mouth to the guys from CA at the plant is, Who has the numbers here? They all look at him like he's got two heads. He says, youse know da numbers, don't youse got da numbers here? They say Nope they don't know nothing about no numbers. So he calls up my Godfather to tell him this. He cannot believe it. He says Christ Almighty can you believe this shit they ain't got no numbers here and I ordered pizza that taste like cardboard. This is my first friggin day here. I don't know if I'm gonna make it here Frankie I just don't know lol.

Los Angeles is a open city The Milano Family is done until the Milano brothers dead, some say that what remains of the family are ruled by Tommy Gambino the son of Salvatore one of the infamous Cherry Hills Gambinos.

Los Angeles is a city where you can make a lot of money so I think that other families have their representatives in the city; but not only, also the Camorra, with the alliance of secondigliano work in cities as well as the Sicilian Mafia with the Gambino, certainly there will also Ndrangheta who traffics with large quantities of coke and has an alliance with Los Zetas.

James Testa I believe was made in the Lucchese family, or it could be the Genovese family. He was made in New York city. Alfonsogirl, LA did run numbers but stopped after they had a big bust sometime in the early 1960's and also not that many people took DeSimone seriously as boss of LA.
The last bar that has connections to what is left of the LA family is a legit Irish bar.

Kenji told me about an Italian restaurant in Tustin that was Mob-connected. The food was overpriced and it had good days and bad days, according to reviews on Yelp. If you're interested I could try to find it.

Hi Faithful how have you been? Are you talking to me? Who is Kenji? I've seen that name before.

I'm alright. How about you? Kenji is a guy who used to be a drug trafficker who got involved with the porn industry and became connected with L.A. guys and the Colombos, then became an informant. He goes by Kenny or Kenji Gallo. He put out a book, runs a blog and practices MMA fighting in Irvine. Anyway, he knew the Mob-connected places in Orange County and he told me about this place in Tustin, I think it's Barolo Cafe on Newport Avenue. It's expensive but the food is usually very good.

If you want to try Enzo's Pizzeria, it's also a little pricey but the food is good. It's in Westwood near UCLA.

A place that was popular back in the day was Mimi's Italian Kitchen at 7408 Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, on the Strip. It was owned by Mimi Tripoli, who was a made guy. It's now a Mexican restaurant called El Compadre, and that's been there since 1975.

Ciro's was another place that was popular back in the 1940s and 1950s, but that closed down in 1957. Dragna, Rosselli, Bugsy Siegel, all those guys used to eat there, so did the biggest Hollywood celebrities. Ciro's was owned by Billy Wilkerson, the same guy who created the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas before Siegel strongarmed him out of it. It's now called The Comedy Store.

I'm good. So that's who Kenji is, gotcha. Weird name for an Italian. And he's a rat so I already don't like him lol

You can't get me to go up to LA even if the food was free so I won't be visiting Enzo's anytime in the near future. I used to go up to Westwood all the time back in the 80's, early 90's. Very nice area.

About 8 years ago I was down in Temecula, Murrieta area when they were building houses like crazy. There was a restaurant down there I think it was called Anthony's and there were a lot of REAL Italians in that place. Now I doubt they were connected but the food was delicious. I still like my Cortina's in Anaheim.

Also, we used to go to De Luca's in Whittier. The owners were originally from Newark and that's the ONLY place we would go to eat Italian food when I was a teen and in my 20's. They also opened up Portofino which was a bit more posh. They do not own either place anymore. Ever heard of those restaurants?

Good stuff Faithful. Thank you for all the info.

Kenji is Japanese-American, but I think he had an Italian stepfather. That's his story.

I don't go up to L.A. much either except when I visit my brother in Pomona. Don't really go to Temecula either. Didn't think they had much going on there except a lot of new development that went underwater after the housing crisis hit. Temecula and Murrieta are places people would move to get lower cost housing when they were priced out of Orange County, but now it has a lot of foreclosures and short sales.

I may have eaten at Cortina's once and I think I heard of De Luca's in Whittier. I remember there was a really good Italian place in Whittier and I tried it out a long time ago. Another really good one, but upscale, is Antonello Ristorante in the South Coast Plaza Hotel. I took a date there years ago. What an experience.

Don't know if you're into Chicago-style pizza or not, but the best one in OC is Rance's in Costa Mesa. Those are some serious pies. One slice can fill you up, and the ingredients are fresh and locally grown.

One other place worth mentioning was Lotsa Pasta in San Diego. Despite the cheezy name, it had really good food. A friend and I drove down there for Timpano, a labor-intensive Neapolitan dish that when made correctly that is so good it makes people cry because it's like your tongue has gone to heaven. At least that's the way it was in the 1996 move "The Big Night." The timpano was really good, but it didn't make me cry. Sadly, the restaurant closed down in 2012.

I'm a foodie Faithful. I live to eat so I will def try the restaurant in South Coast Plaza and the Chicago pizza too. San Diego is my favorite place to go for a weekend trip. There are a few good places down there in Little Italy. If you are interested take the train from Fullerton to San Diego get off on Kettner Blvd which is the last stop which will bring you a few blocks from Little Italy. It's a great day trip. Beautiful weather good food, shops.

Living to eat is what made me put on too many pounds LOL. Let me know what you think of Rances and Antonello after you try them out.

I have been to San Diego's Little Italy. Went several years back for my birthday. Wish we had more time to visit the area, but there was so much to see since it's close to the Naval Museum. Had to visit the battleship and the submarines. The train sounds like a good idea. Nice scenic route.

Sounds good Faithful. You know one of my cousins had to organize a party on the aircraft carrier ,I think it was. His company has conventions down in SD every other year but my father was too sick to make it that year so we did not get to go on it. How cool would that be!!

Here are a couple pics of SD I took one year from their hotel room. Beautiful down there.
