I have always wondered why this guy never made it to the top of the family.

I know he spent time in prison ,but that usually helps a guy in his line of work.
I know why he did not after Carmine grabbed the top seat.

But prior to that he was around and had his hands in everything just like Carmine" .
The person or persons that told me a answer, never gave me a explanation of why .

I do know that Sonny and his family were always kissing up to Colombo. I know Persico's do not like that shit ,but Sonny should or could have been up there already.Sonny and Joe C were close and were skippers at the same time.

This is the only thing I know from someone very close to it .
He says that Carmine and Sonny never got along, that's it" was just water and oil type of thing.(But had to be something)

I know Sonny is were he is now,(Carmine had no choice to put him there) but he should have been up there a long time ago.

I could never ask the person that was talking about Sonny when I interjected" and asked why" he never got past Carmine.

I am still very curious what went down in the 60's- 70's that always had Carmine holding Sonny back.

And this bull that Michael F is saying he was being groomed to be Allie Boy's under boss is BULL ...

50 yrs and parole that goes with it make impossible to be boss. The other bosses wouldn't meet with him with feds following him. Could you imagine he was still getting parole violations in the 2oo6 for his case from 68.

He was released in 79 I read so he had a low key decade during all the gotti reighn. Think he was in the doghouse with both sides of the family after his kid flipd.

Had no clue he could not meet with guys from a case back in 1968, that's just crazy how he was able to earn" at all if that is the case.

Still the Franzese family was never close to Carmines and if you wanted to move up that was the thing to do.
Now Michael F without a doubt getting lucky with that Russian coming to his for protection made Michael a rich man. and changed everything for him and his father. There is not one report of Michael having a conversation with Allie.I find that strange cos they are around the same age and would be in Florida a lot of the time
But even with that cash coming in in duffle bags of cash and it was duffle bags to the point of having a problem how to get it to a safe house.Michael was always questioned and looked at in a different light then other skippers, and this is before his brother.

Serpiente is right, since Persico became boss has transformed the Colombo family in Persico family, putting relatives and friends in positions of power and is the only reason he is still officially the boss and won the war with Orena, whichHe had been chosen as acting boss because he was seen as an ally but then rebelled. The fact that the feds were following him is not a good reason, even Gigante was always followed and pretended to be crazy, but attended the meetings with other bosses, apologizing for coming in bathrobe.

Well actually Orena is his family also.and yes they are big on blood family retaining the mob family. They were not getting along the two sides(war) .I posted a while back that they have some what buried the hatchet so to speak . I seen one of the grandsons of Orena at Carmine's upstate house ,that would have never happened if there was not somewhat communication between the two families .

I think it makes sense that the families Orena and Persico have buried the hatchet partly because the warhas been more than 20 years now both little vic that carmine will die in prison, as well as a little boy alli also all those involved in both sides of the war or have died, or are in prison or have flipped. so it is best to bury the hatchet and think about the business.
Do you know if the Orena sons and gransons were made or just associate ?

I don't know if they are pushing for something like that, but they are not ready if they were trying,I don't think Russo or Teddy wants to even her that .

Now Sonny's grandsons and or nephews do have a better head on there shoulders ,I hear they are pushing or made it. Some what different for them, it is not frowned opon as it is with Orena young men.

Persicos never forget ! it must be Joyce letting the boys use the family things ...

Orena seemed like a better leader he was framed and had way more aupport than jailed persico...but persicos are basically smart ruthless thigs and orena was just a peaceful gangster

Extortion: You know how it goes when the cat is away the mice will play.Carmine and Allie and Teddy thought it would be best to put Vic there ,one cos he is blood second he does have a good head on his shoulders.
I really think Vic and the captains knew they were doing all the work and they could run a family.
When the boss and the 3or4 guys under him are all away ,the guys running the show start to see dollar signs.
That did happen ,but you had that fuck Scarpa twisting things for so many years. When Scarpa seen a little loop hole he ran with it turned and twisted everything and the Boss's could get no real time info.
This fell right into Scarpas hands cos Vic never trusted this guy and nor did the skippers.
Carmine was getting a load of cash from Scarpa and he was doing hits for him .At the same time he was getting word that Scarpa was bad.But the guy is doing everything under the sun and dropping body's ,(so the boss is thinking maybe the guy with the news is bad)and the skippers are sending word to Carmine that he is bad.
It fell right into Scarpas hands as soon as he got word this news was reaching Carmine.
So Greg twisted and scammed until he got that war started, he knew it was his only shot and if it worked he was going for the top spot.
He almost pulled it off....
