FREE George "Cowboy" Martorano! Check out his website. Obama should really get this guy a Pardon on his way out next year. Long John's son was royally screwed. I have brought this up before so I won't go into detail but just Google him and check out his websites and see all the good he does now and also check out why he is locked up and what the charge is.

Mikey, Frank passed away a few years back (in 2012 I believe, but I'm not 100% certain). He was a made guy, I think he was in his late 70's/early 80's when he passed. He was indicted in the 1999 Philly RICO case along with Merlino and crew. He was convicted and received a 7 or 8 year sentence I believe.

Btw the article says the informants recorder fell out, he screamed the guys wired and stomped the thing but somehow the dude got out alive..thats crazy I cant think of another story of a wiseguy actually finding a bug on a rat and destroying it..anyone else know of another instance like that?

I'm not sure who he was made under. There was a thread on one of the other boards where a pretty reputable Philly poster compiled a list of all the making ceremonies in Philly going back a pretty long time, with the years and the guys who were inducted at each ceremony. I'll have to see if I can find it. I could be way off base and dead wrong here, but Frank may have been one of the guys inducted by Joey (right after Stanfa went away) when he was making all of his close friends. I'd be willing to bet that he definitely wasn't made by Stanfa, though.

As for the other questions (the relation to Carlo or the Cherry Hill Gambino's), I honestly have no idea. Maybe someone else here who has more knowledge about Philly could shed some more light on that for you.

I meam that's not unheard of and I defer to ur knowledge I just thought I read.in like Caramamdis book or somewhere that Scarfo or maybe Stamfa made him..can ne one shed some light on this?

If anyone knows was he related to carlo or cherry hill gambinos...girl I went to hs in Bucks county her fam owned a few pizzerias w the last name Gambino was related pretty close to Rosario and John and I know this for a fact...idk if Gambinos a common Italian last name

Please do, would be so down to read that!

Late 50's is norm for LCN families and young for Genovese. The precedent for making kids wasn't till the 80s Scarfo era. Merlino adopted it too as did Stanfa but IMO more for tactical reasons. Merlino loyalists were all young guys and Stanfa's group in the beginning consisted of all old guys who couldnt pull a trigger. I don't think 50 is out of the ordinary for Merlino. He made that art thief in boston right?

Yep, Merlino inducted a few guys from Boston - Shawn Vetere, Bobby Luisi, and Robert Gentile. Gentile is the one who the FBI believes has knowledge of the heist and/or where the art could possibly be stored today.

I read in an article not too long ago from the Hartford Courant where a widow of one of the suspected thieves told the FBI that her husband had passed along some of the stolen artwork to Gentile to sell before he passed away. Gentile was arrested again just last month on gun charges; the article says that the feds have a recording of Gentile negotiating a sale of the paintings to an undercover agent.
