As the title says, the "super boss" of 'Ndrangheta Domenico Trimboli is cooperating with justice. He was arrested in Colombia.

He was a big supplier to Italian Organized Crime,he is connected to Cosa Nostra,Camorra and obviously 'Ndrangheta.

I don't follow 'Ndrangheta too closely. But this is gonna be huge news.

The 'ndrangheta have fewer informants than other organizations, because they are more blood family based than camorra and cosa nostra. The only exception is the province of Cosenza where the clans formed as business alliances, not with family ties. I read the only boss in Cosenza really respected by the Reggio Calabria bosses is Francesco Muto from Cetraro. A tough bastard, that one. Tough, because did 10 years of 41-bis prison regime, and bastard because whacked the honest politician Giannino Losardo (honest politicians are too few in this world to treat them like this).

Frank Costello was from Lauropoli, Cosenza, the same town as my father's parents. Not that it matters much. Costello was as Americanized as anyone born over there can get. Just saying.

As an aside, there are still some Castiglias living in that village. I met some of his cousins on vacation over there years ago. They were all working class. If that. There's still A LOT of poverty in that area.

It's a sad thing that there is poverty, but at least there is more hope for this province than the others because the 'ndrangheta is weaker and not being based on blood ties, turn informants more easily.

There are several interesting books in Italian all dedicated to the Cosenza 'ndrangheta, even about the 19th century; the most recent is "Mamma 'ndrangheta" by Arcangelo Badolati (it's a very updated version from his previous book).

It's a shame. It's such a beautiful area. My Mom's side is from a small town in Matera, Basilicata. You can do the drive from Cosenza in a couple hours (even in a rented Fiat lol). You have to head east, go up the coast, then head west again. But it's worth it because there are parts of Basilicata that are absolutely prehistoric. When Mel Gibson filmed "The Passion of the Christ" he chose Matera for the crucifixion scene because it's one of the most unchanged areas on the planet since the time of Christ. I don't know where you live, Dwalin. I never asked. But if you ever have the chance, you should check it out.

I live in Milan. Haven't yet been to the Southern regions, only Campania once, to see Vesuvius, Pompeii and Herculaneum, but haven't been even to Naples yet. But I should definitely visit the area you are describing, I like places where nature is untouched by civilization.
Even in Russia where there are still huge forests, it's VERY annoying to stumble over bottles, plastic sacks etc on the ground while searching for mushrooms. The deeper forest areas are cleaner though, there are even bears (but they are NOT communists and DON'T walk around cities drinking vodka wearing caps with ear flaps lol)

You'll NEVER see any of that in Matera. I promise you that.

He is boss of the Trimboli clan, a major player in the international drug trade, and one of Italy's most wanted, but I'm not sure what constitutes a "super boss."

My grandfather's family comes from Craco, where they filmed the scene when Judas was hung. It's a ghost town and they often use it for films.

All God's children are not beautiful. Most of God's children are, in fact, barely presentable.

I never met anyone who didn't have a very smart child. What happens to these children, you wonder, when they reach adulthood?

Well, Craco is in Matera. So there you go smile.

In the picture up top (with the sunglasses), he looks a little like the real Sonny Black Napolitano (nothing like Michael Madsen, who looks about as Italian as Howdy Doody).
