I just watched the movie CBGB about the infamous Bowery Nightclub. There's a scene where some Cosa Nostra guys come in to get the owner to pay "rent". The owner calls some Hell's Angels knockoffs to come in and beat them up. Apparently the movie is a true story. Does anyone have any clue who this was/ if it really happened?

well, who's territory was the shittiest part of the Bowery in the 70's? not a joke, honest question. Could have been a freelance power play because Hilly Kristal obviously had zero connections and was really only protected by some local Hell's Angels.

A book like American Desperado comes to mind. Jon Roberts claimed he and Andy Benefante (Don Carlo's ex-driver) used to muscle in on random bars and clubs with impunity, never asking permission. Seeing as how neither were made guys and they seemed to just be mid-high level soldiers with longer leashes than other wiseguys (never really had to report or kick up) it could have been them or any couple guys like them from any of the families. I doubt it was anyone of note because than we'd all be aware of a small war between one family and the Hell's Angels.

Even Gravano killed the one biker than got away and left town after the bar fight where Sammy broke his foot, and this is long before he was a top guy for the Gambinos. That said it's hard to think realistically they guys from the movie were portraying any connected guys of any real power. Most likely just some knock around guys who probably disappeared anonymously not too many years later for this or that.
