Damn, I was just thinking of starting a thread about Toto, wondering the same thing. Been like 4 yrs since he got out... I don't think he must be too impressed with the Bonanno leadership nowadays.
I wonder if in a way it would have turned out better for these zips had they stayed in Sicily.

-Hmm, more than a couple... Really I don't know the exact amount, maybe I shot him 10 times, 12 times?
-Maybe fifteen?
-Hmm, it could've been fifteen...

Didn't Catalano run the Bonannos for a bit after the death of Carmine Galante?

Hmm, I don't think so... maybe a sort of street boss for Rastelli? He did in fact pretty much run the zip faction, which was pretty powerful.

Well he was pretty much just into heroin trafficking and since that's dried up and most of his crew are dead or in jail I doubt he's involved.

Heroin has dried up ? No way

They may not be the cartels but NY CN definately has some big wholesalers
In dope coke and especially weed . As a group I wouldn't be surprised if they are the #1 high grade weed wholesalers in NY/ NJ

Catalano ran the Bonannos for about a week. Then they came up with a rule that said a guy made in Sicily couldn't run a family here. rolleyes

For the Bonnano's? Yes it has. We're talking about a guy who was high up in the Pizza connection, been away for 30 years. The heroin trafficking the Bonnano's are involved in now is petty compared to back then.

The only major players left in heroin out of the 5 families are the Gambino's, they have strong ties to Palermo.

Nah the Bonnanos are still big dealers

And the genovese but on the DL and only with the boss ok and more on the high grade weed front

Luchesse have also always been big dealers

Columbos I'm with ya , they stick to BK and the extortion bookmaking sharking and union / construction that goes with it

Catalano was acting boss of the bonnanos but it didn't work out , i thought the reason was the language barrier as he could barely speak English so couldn't communicate with the captains or other families

They WERE big dealers, where's the evidence to suggest they've been big in heroin over the last 10 years or so?

True they were big in the old days, but maybe he is talking about associates who are in to dealing, like this one: http://www.justice.gov/usao/nye/pr/August14/2014Aug19.php

What about Stanfa, wasn't he made in Sicily? He moved to USA as an adult already.

He was made in Italy anyways. At least that's what I heard.

Stanfa was made in the U.S. Even if you are made in Sicily and later migrate to the United States it is not necessary to be made again.

Evidence ? I live in the area and have been told this by people in the loop and from other sources ibaint gonna go into

A lot of pipeline goes to Montreal and enters the US whether it be H or Coke or Larry as some call it , plus pills but I give the govt a lot of credit in cracking that profit area down , kind of makes you think about a regulated market but that's a different Story

Weed is Vermont and CA

This isn't new info , you can believe what you want , makes no difference to me , up to you really

You think those guys gave up in the 80s? Nah , no way , just more careful and I would say more on the high grade weed front where LE is more tolerant and margins are still excellent but almost every family has their wholesale guy

Whether it be marajuana , pills , coke , heroin , ecstasy they in it

Whether it be 80s , 90s or now , some are still wholesaling it

How can't they with the massive Montreal pipeline just 5 hours north

NY and NJ is overflowing with Heroin and the dealers ain't always Mexican

Pretty sure Bonnano bust had approx 100 kilos of coke

It's business and they will always have a slice

There was one Bonanno associate involved in that big coke deal and the idictment portrayed he played a small roll, it was N'Drangheta and 18th ave Gambino's.

Bonanno's have lost the Montreal connection, look at who both the FBI and Italian authorities are jointly trying to convict, it's the Gambino's. No evidence of the Bonanno family even having mid level heroin trafficking since they lost Montreal.

You keep talking about high end weed, everyone knows every family is involved in that.

Let's agree to disagree then

What's the point of going back and forth but I do agree with you about the calabrians being big players

I believe Sal Catalano is inactive and retired. He spent a good chuck of his life in prison, and at his age, why come back into the life, though I think you might give advice to those that ask for his opinions.

Back in the 70's and on into the late 80's the word was always Canada .
I don't see why they would go anywhere else if available, who would want to go anywhere else, That border is the perfect place.

A rat from NY I think was asked about who was more powerful NY or montreal. He said that Montreal was stronger, because Montreals guys import huge amounts of drugs, he said NY couldn't do that anymore. But then again that would be weird as their are so many made guys and associates in NY who could pull of these shipments.
