I caught cowboys reloaded on HBO it was great and they did some fact checking so I believe some of it and his wife seemed cool and the pilot. Wonder what Boston Jorge is up to these days good film blow.

I laugh when Jon Roberts girlfriend makes fun of Jon going to prison and acts like she knew Max was an informant from the start. She acts like she knows nothing but then acts like she knows it all in the same sentence.

Boston George is out now, haven't heard much on him though.

So I'm just about finished with "American Desperado". I definitely recommend the book. It's entertaining. But I'm still very skeptical of some of Mr. Roberts' more outrageous stories. The author does try to find other sources for Jon's stories and he puts them in footnotes, but many of them he can't confirm and others are shaky at best. Like citing a police report or newspaper story that describes an incident that is vaguely similar to what Jon's story says but has no mention of Jon or anyone else. I mean I'm sure there was a police report of the Joey Gallo murder but that doesn't mean Frank Sheeran was the killer (as he claims in his book). But it's a fun book to read.

But you see, the rest of us commenting on this thread finished the book already. I originally had the impression that you did also.

Jon's account of his experiences in clubs is entirely credible on account of the parts of the book that quote the king of clubs at that time, Bradley Pierce.

A lot of what Roberts claims in American Desperado seems extremely exaggerated and far fetched, however the author did in fact dig into practically every story Jon told him and verifies them as fact at the bottom of a lot of the pages in the book quoting old friends, newspaper articles and such. This guy lived one helluva life

I think I'm gonna order that book. It does look appealing.

I imagine that's why he wrote the book. A lot of the stuff is pretty wild.

I read it a few years ago, it was really good. I just checked my bookshelf but it's not there, I must have gave it to someone.

[Spoilers if you haven't read it]

I don't know but in the book Jon says Borelli, a maniac in his own right, was sent to kill him. Jon busts into Henry's hotel room cowboy style and sends Borelli home with his tail between his legs. Again, the book is great. But if it is entirely accurate, Jon Roberts is the biggest badass ever!! lol

Jon Roberts claimed that Demeo crew member Borelli was the cousin of his long time girlfriend, Phyllis. So that might be one motivation to not kill Henry. Henry was "family". Really, I think he almost killed Henry by the way the book read. Henry needed to speak very carefully or he wasn't getting out of there alive. Jon had cops keeping watch outside the room and he had a silencer.

If Henry would've gotten whacked (by Jon), we would have had another mob murder to speculate on and everyone would've assumed someone in the mafia did it for either one reason or another. We would be creating threads here, on the BB, about that.

Jon never had proof Henry for sure was going to kill him. His nose simply went off because Henry appeared right at the moment he and Phyllis were having problems. And she had a history of threatening his life if she ever caught him messing around on her.

Probably Phyllis was the only person Jon was afraid of.

Now when you know your girlfriend's cousin is a serial killer and he shows up in Miami without calling you to say hi, yeah, sticking a gun up one of his nostrils might help clear the air a bit, sort of like getting all the cards on the table.

Police are the same way come to think of it. If you are a sex offender...you gotta register everywhere you live. Many times a career criminal will voluntarily go down to the local precinct to announce their presence to the local PD so that there are no misunderstandings.

So how Jon treated Henry is sort of completely rational and commonplace. He didn't need to kill his girlfriend's cousin since he had the Miami cops on his payroll watching out for him, not to mention his criminal colleagues. Henry would've been completely nuts (more nuts than he already was) to try and sneak down into Miami after getting a warning like that.

All you have to do is read the book, he clearly explains his feelings towards Henry. He speaks on him in several instances, not just Miami. Since a lot of the other people are real and corroborate what he says and who he knows ie: Phyliss and the Gambinos, it's undeniable that he at least knew Borelli since Borelli was related to the same.people.

Well, he recounts a murder Henry did off the books, just to get back into Jon's good graces. But the edict for Henry to never arrive in Miami unannounced was never rescinded nonetheless.

Murder Machine makes Henry Borelli look like the only "human" member of the Demeo crew, all on account of his aversion to dismemberment. But he was not that, and it's clear in Jon's book.

He wasn't that scared I don't think, I believe it was because Borelli realized he fucked up or something and then started seeing what Jon was saying. I don't remember over what except that it had to do with Phyllis.

Think about it. Jon supposedly had Henry and a cohort in the hotel room with the police keeping watch outside. Jon shoots Henry's partner in the knee to shut him up for being sassy. Jon makes his ultimatum to Henry and Henry shows Jon his throat, backing down from confrontation with a major major trafficker.

Next thing we know, Henry and Jon meet up again. Henry asks Jon to come with him to look in the trunk of his car. The guy Jon shot in the knee is in the trunk, whacked by Henry.

This story is believable because it's logical. You see, Henry had to kill the guy Jon shot in the knee so that he wouldn't squeal on him to the Mafia back in New York. Henry is not supposed to be hiding Jon's whereabouts from anyone. If the New York mafia heard from anywhere that Henry visited his "friend" Jon down in Miami, and Jon was a marked man to begin with, Henry would have been killed by the Demeo crew right away. So the guy had to go.
