I don't know much about Canada but they do seem reluctant to make new guys, compared to the 5 familes. They started as basically all Bonanno made guys, Sal Vitale said there was 20 made guys in Canada back in 04. I bet they have made quite a few after they started getting killed to replenish the ranks but they're powerful enough with a small group of made guys and a ton of associates.

Who knows, maybe now that Rizzuto is out of the picture they'll start making more.

Like I said, I don't know much about Montreal but they've always been very powerful with a small amount of made guys and a shit load of associates, so having you're button probably doesn't mean as much as it does in the states, just my opinion.

Just to follow on Mike, we'll have to wait for someone to flip before we find out the ins and outs of Montreal LCN, even the most knowledgeable guys following LCN will admit it's hard to truly gauge activity in Montreal.

Not when Vito was alive. He treated the made guys, associates, and even the biker gangs the same it seems and that is why they always had peace when he wasn't in prison. Like in other threads we have talked a lot about Joe Bravo and Raynald Desjardins who were not made men but they were treated like royalty up there. That's one reason Vito was very rich and very powerful when alive and that is why bodies are still dropping from all the killing that happened when he was in prison and they will continue to drop. Outside of the Rizzuto, Renda, Sciascia, LoPresti, Sollecito etc. names there just wasn't a whole lot of guys that could be made up there IMO.

Loads of Italians up there though man.....it obviously doesn't mean anything, otherwise those saint cards would of been burning by now but RE Tommy Gambino.....your not gona know the full spread until someone sings.

Vito learned a lot from the Bonanno debacle and I think you pretty much have to have a tie to the family to get made up there. If you look at some of the players you see a lot of the same last names up there. I think that is another reason why you don't see anyone flipping up there, most of the made guys are truly family.

This is another reason why I think Vito admitted in court that he was made, WTF did he care? I don't think he truly considered himself a Bonanno plus who was going to make him pay for admitting in court he was part of Cosa Nostra? I know it was part of his plea deal but still.

He must've at least made his son Nick, if he was able to run things along with his grandfather while Vito was away. It is a good question though, but I'm think they probably have, a lot of the guys Rizzuto came up with weren't really had no affiliations with NY it seems, other than Sciascia & LoPresti. They were just Sicilian and dealt with Montreal stuff, so I kind of have a hard time believing every Sicilian or any other Italian group affiliated with the Rizzuto clan who lands in Montreal has to go to NY to get their button.

The whole being made thing, only really works if there's lots of other made guys.....otherwise whats the point? It's all about strengh in numbers. Suppose they could of made lots of people, we wouldn't really know.
