I was curious to see what peoples opinions are on this matter. A bookie I know is charging juice on a former employee who is locked down for 6 months seems kind of f'd up in my opinion. But there aren't any passes in that line of work.

A bookie or a shylock?

Bookies rarely charge interest to their players, unless the customer is a total outsider and has nowhere to go to help him get on the installment plan lol.

A shylock, on the other hand . . . . will often keep the meter running while a debtor's inside. That's just the way it goes. But nothing's set in stone. Just like everything else with that world, it depends who you are and who you owe.

Im with Coach PB, doesnt add up there, and with most books going online or using online programs they cant sit there and adjust your juice on losing bets just sitting there....anyways could be a bookie working 2 jobs, its tough out there these days so maybe the book needs to make an extra buck!!

Good luck collecting and expanding his book. Most guys would not keep the meter running while guys are locked up. Its more common that he knock a lil off to keep the guy in play.

Almost all books on line over seas today and shy is usually separate

Think of it like a sister company under GE or something similiar

The key to today's game is being compartmentalized,
Silos with little talk except at the highest levels ( capo and up etc . )

This is where wise guy 101 comes into play, its usually a shy not a bookie.
If someone borrows money from a shy and then gets locked up, he better have someone who is going to pay his juice. Some shylocks ( if they are smart) will work with the guy and be logical about the situation. The last thing you want to do is put the arm on a guys wife or family member while he is away. You're just beggin the guy to go to the cops.
If a guy already knew he was going away and STILL borrowed money, the shy has every right to keep the meter running.

Exactly. I posted something similar to this. It is what it is.
