Can anybody out there tell me more about him?

My Father was an AC/refrigeration mechanic in South Florida from 1971 up until the early 1990's.

He installed all the refrigeration for every new Bobby Rubinos for the Galgano bros. and also did the AC in Terry Zappi's house and his yacht that used to be docked at the old "Le Club International".

AS a kid I would sometimes go along with my Dad to Terry's. I remember he used to joke that he had a polish wife who cooked Italian as good as anybody. He also had a candy company and was always giving me candy.

Other than that I don't know too much about him. I heard that that it was him that put up most of the money for "Deep Throat".

There used to be a ton of Bobby Rubinos around and that account alone kept my Father really busy. Now almost all of them have closed. There might still be one or two open, but I'm not sure.

Any cool trivia on Terry would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sal

faithful1, not to get off topic here, but, im reading the book "mafia summit" by gil reavill, it goes into vito Genovese a lot.

it mentions his drug conviction, and you were right they did convict him using suspicious methods, you were right about hoover also, he did condemn the whole matter, I was wrong,

sorry to hi- jack this thread.

No problem Binnie. I would recommend reading "The Mob and the City" too, which covers a lot of the same ground and more, but has more detailed research. I think you would enjoy it.

Supposedly John Favara approached Zappi after being assaulted with a bat by Vicky Gotti and having things like "murderer" spray painted on his car after he accidentally killed Frank Gotti.

Zappi, who knew Favara from the neighborhood, told him "You got two choices. One,move away. Two get a gun and kill John Gotti".

After Favara's murder,Zappi was approached on the QT by a friendly cop in the hope that he could at least give a tip on the location of Favara's body so that the family could give him a decent burial.

Zappi declined, but told the cop that what had happened was "Family business" and that there would be no more trouble for the Favara's.

This was in either "Mob Star" or "Gotti: Rise and Fall", I don't remember which. Like a lot of Gotti books I would take it with a grain of salt, but who knows,it could be true.

Is it true that he put up the money for deep throat ?

Remembering what a nice old guy he was its hard to believe that guy was in the porn biz.

Here is a link that gives some information on Zappi as well as his involvement in the porn business. Apparently he was a pretty major player.

Hey Lou...

Thanks so much for that link. It was a GREAT read. "Mr.Z" thats what my Dad called Terry.

I guess you have another example of a made guy not being 100% Italian. In the article it said that Terrys Son Anthony was a made guy. I know for a fact Terrys wife was Polish.

Anyway, thanks again.

Sal

Favara did try to move away. It's a shame he couldn't do it faster. I believe it was just an accident. I read that even John Gotti was going to let it go, but Vicki Gotti pushed the issue.

Favara was in the process of selling his house. If I'm not mistaken,he was kidnapped only a day or so before the closing was to take place. Also,I believe that Gotti did consider Frank's death to be an accident, but between Victoria's deteriorating mental state and false rumors that Favara was speeding and ran a stop sign,he changed his mind and gave the order.
