For the longest time i though i was an average american mutt but recently i found out my father is very polish mixed with a tiny bit of italian and my mother is polish with english,and even my last name Karwinsky is polish so ive become very interested in my culture,is there a large presence of Polish organized crime in america???

Just kidding, but seriously no there was never really a large presence of Polish OC here in the US, at least not like the Irish, Jewish, or Italians. but in recent years there have a been a couple of small groups of polish criminals that have gained a little notoriety , one out of Brooklyn and the other out of Philly, neither seem like they were ever a serious OC element though. heres a little bit about them-

Oh so basically Polish OC is pretty small and not really that organized,ever here anything about chicago? and what about other ethnic mob groups, is there any others besides (italian,jewish,asian,irish,russian/slavik.)

Last name with "sky" is actually more likely Ukrainian. Last name ending in "ski" is Polish. You sure you're not a Uki, pal?

Do you have anything on the current status of the Polish mob in Detroit? Heard there is still a small following around Gross Point up into Royal Oak, Troy, Sterling Heights, Etc. My first post also by the way. Glad to finally join.

Chicago does have a large polish population but you never really hear of anything organized.

There used to be a HUGE Polish population in Hamtramck, which is a Detroit suburb. So he was probably just curious for that reason.

i live in greenpoint brooklyn and there used to be a ton of Polish OC here, a lot of the neighborhood is being gentrified but there are some bread and butter rackets still going on here, especially the farther you get away from williamsburg / west of manhattan ave where its less yuppie etc lots of old neighborhood bookies, card games etc not sure about heavier stuff..

I have herd from an old step dad of mine that there was some form of Polish organized crime in detroit, but i think most of that is dead now and it was pretty small to begin with
