Heard somebody talk about a new' gangster series after Boardwalk empire. They were supposed to make. I didn't find Jack, just wondered if any of you's have heard something?

Also - what should it be about? I would like a drama about the connections between Frank Sinatra, Giancana, Kennedy and Marylin Monroe. That's pure fairytale for me.

Something set during the 50s in NY would be amazing. Anastasia, Gambino, Genovese, Bonanno, Profaci? Not to mention outside of NY. The rest of the characters could as well be fictional or semi-fictional but that should be the background. It could stare a wannabe wiseguy who eventually gets inducted into the Anastasia family after paying to get made? It could be set from 1951-1957 maybe? Imagine the possibilities.

Boardwalk was amazing but I was a little disappointed that the original 5 bosses only got a quick honorable mention last night at the finale. Also Genovese and Anastasia should have been mentioned during Masseria's hit.

-I shot him a coupla' times.
-What's a couple?
-Hmm, more than a couple... Really I don't know the exact amount, maybe I shot him 10 times, 12 times?
-Maybe fifteen?
-Hmm, it could've been fifteen...

I like that idea because you could maybe have joe gallo involved because he was in connection with the different people that you have mentioned and he would be a good tv character, obvioulsy you would have to have others because of his ending, but that would be a great time period

So basically a 50-60s mob themed series..I'd like that. Luciano in italy, havana connnections ... interesting times of being a gangster, then again - maybe in 50 years they will say that about the 21st century mafia?

A show set during the 40s and 50s would be epic. So much material there. And yeah it annoyed me how they have Bugsy and Tonino do the hit on Masseria lmaooo they have Tonino, this boring thug (i thought he was alright but yeah) doing it instead of the more interesting figures who actually did it, Anastasia, Genovese and i believe Joe Adonis. I think that Apalachin could be a hilarious scene if depicted right.

I seriously doubt that.

I think his point is that by then the Mafia would be nearly extinct... sort of like how in the 70s they made movies about the 40-50s mob and nowadays we make movies about the 70s mob (Casino, Goodfellas, etc)

Its a good point and you never know there could be members of the 5 families or others that are involved in some cyber crimes in the US that are stealing ridiculous sums of change from everyone....not as glamorous as hijacking semis for cigs and loansharking but...it pays more...heck the wolf of wall street was all white collar shit and that was a excellent movie

Exactly, I mean who thought back in the 70-80s that the mob was still so powerful? Especially after all the crap in the 50s like Costello's hearing, Valachi, Apalachin conference, not to mention plenty of hits.. people thought the Mafia was done for.
Yet we all know what happened in the 70s, 80s and even 90s.

Yeah, they should make a movie about Scarpa already for god's sake. His life story has enough material for at least 3 damn movies.

Here is already a topic about "The Five Families":

The Five Families," which is in development, hails from Irwin Winkler and Nicholas Pileggi and would mark the cable network's first scripted series.

Discovery Communications is teaming with Academy Award-nominated Goodfellas duo Irwin Winkler and Nicholas Pileggi for its first scripted drama series.

The Five Families show is already in production by AMC. And it's modeled after the "World Wars" and "The Men Who Built America" shows on the history channel. It isn't really a weekly, drama series, it's more of a show for historic value. It'll happen.

Magic City is currently being filmed as a movie. And yes, the AMC series is happening.

AMC announced today that “The Making of The Mob: New York” will premiere on Monday, June 15th at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT, and be narrated by Emmy Award-winning actor Ray Liotta.

Kicking off “Mob Mondays,” the eight-part series begins in 1905 and spans over 50 years to trace the rise of Charles “Lucky” Luciano, Meyer Lansky, Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel and other notorious gangsters from their beginnings as a neighborhood gang of teenagers to murderous entrepreneurs and bootleggers who organized the criminal underworld, turning the Mafia into an American institution.

Just watch gangland undercover about bikers but based on true story now doing that around the mob in the 1990 would be something to watch.

Lefty I thought that show about the biker was horrible. The acting sucked big time and the story is like every other story told by a rat, you not sure if you can trust it or not.

AJK thanks for that link. It's just like Sinatra said, it is patterned after "The Men Who Built America" which I thought was very good so I like how they are going so far. Let's hope it is fairly factual.

Interesting to see Oscar Goodman being interviewed for it. I wished he would write a book about his lawyer days with Spilotro. I bet he would have some great stories.
