Mainly because when they get arrested in there homes they're not dressed in nice suits, obviously..That's when 99 percent of the pictures are taken.

Yeah I agree these guys are living on the son of the baconator and given how out of shape they are they can't even probably fuck a female lollol

You see top guys worth millions dressing like that, they're hardly 'bums'

I hate that argument. When they show those fat asses coming out in their XXXL sweatpants with holes in them, that has nothing to do with it being 3 am. and throwing on the first thing they can find. Just the fact they own those raggedy clothes and have the balls to put on slides with socks says they already gave up on life a long time ago.

Spucky has been a captain for a long time-he may be getting up there in age but he's deadly as is Angelesco who reports to him.

Sure, some of the older guys still take pride in how they dress. But the Genovese are the wrong example. As a rule, they NEVER flaunted their appearance like the other families. Fat Tony used to wear fucking overalls on 116th Street lol.

There are exceptions, of course. But to this day the Westside will reprimand their guys for living over their heads and putting on a show with luxury cars and fancy clothes. But they dress down for a reason, to deflect attention from themselves. When guys in the other families dress like slobs, it's not a charade. They're just fucking slobs.

I've never quite understood the dismay at the apparent decline in gangster dress sense on this site, I know it's somewhat of an iconic aspect of Mafia mythology (which, lets be honest, a lot of us here are interested in) but a lying thieving scumbag in a £2000 suit is still a lying thieving scumbag...

First time I ever heard a acting boss was releases on bail and not a danger to the public like always. Case probably weak. Seems like the feds looking into the casino land deal fraud and stumbled on this shakedown. The companies paying there rent will probably fold now. Its revere the mayor is a associate. Not bad they can't even count all the money prior owners kicked up. Quick plea deals 3 4 yrs.

Good point, pmac. I doubt this two bit scam was the original target of this investigation. It was probably accidental, and the Feds decided to exploit it for a headline.

I agree pmac and PB, they definitely stumbled into Spuckys dealings, and are definitely doing it for headlines. Saying Spucky is acting boss makes the feds look real good once again, but hes a capo, he isn't the acting boss. And Charlie Lightbody is a long long time associate, i would say he's been kicking up on all the rackets hes got going

Almost reminds me of Ligambi. I don't follow Philly too closely, but I've heard from some of the more knowledgeable Philly guys that he doesn't have much money (for a boss, anyway).

Keep in mind that this is probably one extortion target among several.

As for Ligambi, it appears he's comfortable, for lack of a better word. Besides whatever tribute he was getting as underboss/acting boss, he reportedly had interests in a real estate, a towing company, and not to mention the 50k a year from that garbage company for doing nothing.

I've always said, at least from what I can tell, that mafiosi are mostly middle-class. But it seems too many are caught up in the fantasy where, if a guy doesn't have that "Don Corleone money" (to quote The Sopranos) he's somehow doing it wrong or doesn't have as much money as he "should."

A lot wrong with that. Or at least pure speculation.

I think too much is read into what kind of clothes a guy is wearing. You see photos of a lot of these guys and they dress up when the occasion calls for it - a high level meeting, a wedding, a wake, etc. But it's like people (who once again have been watching too many mob movies) expect them to be walking around in $2,000 pin-striped suits 24 hours a day.

I remember when a reporter caught Dom Cirillo on the street back in 1997 after it came out he was the acting boss. He was wearing jeans and an old t-shirt. When Nick Corozzo was arrested back in the late 1990's, he was wearing a track suit and cap. So what?

Yeah, I posted something similar in the Ligambi thread. I just meant that compared to his predecessors, like Bruno and Scarfo, that he hasn't made as much money. But I also went on to say that he's most certainly well off, and that he should take that money and head south.

Here's the post: http://www.gangsterbb.net/threads/ubbthr...true#Post806188

Cirillo is a Westider, Ivy. So how is what you posted any different from what I posted?

You're right about people seeing too many movies, though. I think a lot of outsiders expect to see Jimmy Cagney flipping a gold coin in a double breasted suit lol.

But the truth is, as a whole, that years ago they seemed to care a little more about outward appearances. The Westside being the anomaly. But look at them, then look at everybody else.

What cracks me up is that a 70 year old is sent in to be the "muscle", are there no young kids left, lol...

I'd smack the guy in the head and tell him to take a Geritol in the morning and go home...

There are young guys left but alot of true old school guys like to stick with whom they can trust and rely on. Like I posted before alot of timers that many think is done are not but rather just tight amongst whom they choose to deal with. The way they dress I cant argue but at times discusted because at events you see them wearing fucking jumpsuits are you shitting me. Like for Jerry funeral you know how many guys wore jumpsuits and just hung around the neighborhood.

Spucky loves Angelesco, but its not certain Billy's in his crew anymore. And Billy has 2 feds on his ass everywhere he goes, so its not easy for him to do his work.
