Pasquale (Uncle Patty) Falcetti a reputed capo in the Genovese crime family was sentenced to 30 years behind bars on loan sharking charges. According to court documents Falcetti made a $34,000 loan to mafia snitch Anthony Zocolillo who then used the cash to start up a marijuana operation. Prosecutors said the mob turncoat knew if he didn’t pay the outrageous and illegal terms of the loan he would have to pay in blood.

Judge Lorna Schofield told Uncle Patty at sentencing that she was concerned that once he was released again he would go right back to his criminal activities. The now 55 year old mobster did a six year stretch for racketeering back in 2003. Along with the 30 months he also has to pay a fine of $5,000 along with a forfeiture of $34,000 and will serve 3 years of supervised release.

I just posted this on another site:

30 months. No surprise there. It's right in the middle of the guidelines. It's a shame, though. You know I rarely make excuses for these guys. You play you pay. But all Patty did was try to help this mutt Zoccolillo. He even gave him the money for two points!!

And I know, I know, it's still illegal, and blah blah blah. But just TRY to borrow money in the street for such a reasonable rate. Jesus, payday loan companies charge you more than that! lol

I have to mention this to Geoff. But my pm notifications keep going into my "spam" folder. It was never a problem until recently. And even when I hit "not spam" it doesn't do any good. Of course I can just check for the silly blinking red light on the site, but that would be too easy lol.

Anyway, I'll email you later on, Dom.

How is this loan terms much different than legal pay day loans

Actually the pay day loan terms are way worse for the borrower as it has collateral

This loan obviously did not

Now if there was actual violence then I understand but some legal loans today are way worse and not to mention their loan book is much bigger

What a waste of taxpayer money , both to investigate , prosecute and jail / house this individual

Falcetti may now be the captain of the crew formerly headed by Barney Bellomo and Ernie Muscarella (both of who may be on the family's ruling panel or at least were reported to be 5 years ago).

That was a separate case. He just got 30 months, so he'll probably do about 27.

I honestly never watched it. I hate reality television. Especially the shows that paint Italians poorly (housewives, mob wives, etc.).

Yeah, the rat was from around Bronxdale in Morris Park.

Summer of Sam was filmed mostly in Throggs Neck/Country Club, over by the beach clubs (the bottom of Layton Avenue, Dean Avenue, Clarence Avenue, that area).

Soundview was already predominantly Black by the '70s. But prior to 1960, the entire South Bronx was mostly Jewish, Italian and Irish. And everything below 149th Street was nearly 80 percent Jewish. There are still a couple of ancient synagogues around Soundview. They don't get any use except for when a geriatric passes away in Florida and gets shipped "home." But they're still there.

In my opinion, the best pizzeria in the Bronx is Louie and Ernie's on Crosby Avenue. Hands down. It's right on the border of Pelham Bay and Throggs Neck.

Well, Roberto's is the best restaurant around Arthur Avenue. But that's a rough area at night. Saint Barnabas is a trauma center (lots of South Bronx gunshot wounds) AND a detox (lots of junkies), so if you're coming in all the way from Jersey you might want to come before sundown lol. As for the rest of Belmont, Dominick's is still the same. So is Mario's. Rigoletto is also very good.

Patricia's in Morris Park is pretty good. So is the Patricia's here in Throggs Neck. And the old Morris Park landmark, The Pine Tavern, is still going strong. The food's okay, but the portions are famous.

Roberto's is great, and I had high hopes for Zero Otto Nove, his place in Manhattan, but they're in two totally different leagues. Supposedly Roberto doesn't spend much time at the downtown location so the food can be very hit or miss.
