Nick Pileggi had dry snitches working for him from as far back as the late '60s, long before anyone ever heard the name Capeci. That's why, even though Henry Hill was a bottom-feeding lowlife and a liar, you have to give credit where it's due on that book.

Nick Pileggi went Hollywood. And who can blame him? His wife was an iconic screenwriter herself. But if he had concentrated on a "hard boiled" journalism career, he could have been another Jimmy Breslin or Pete Hamill.

Interesting stuff about Vincent Papa. While searching for some stuff on him, came across the murder of his nephew in the early 80's which was drug related. Then came across another article about the murder of the Licata brothers which they think may have been related:

http://www.nytimes.com/1982/09/09/nyregion/2-brothers-slain-in-queens-cafe-mob-link-seen.html

It seems that this Cafe Licata was linked to Sal Mazzurco from the Pizza Connection:

Anyone familiar with the connections between Papa, Licata, and Mazzurco? Also, were these Licatas related to Pietro Licata?

Yes. The Licatas killed were both nephews of Pete Licata.
