Are there any mafia and boxing conspiracies other than Lamotta vs robinson or Clay vs Liston? Maybe Duran vs Leonard was one?

one of the most iconic boxing matches-

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...rigged-mob.html

but really the mobs influence in boxing was no big secret, rigging fights was probably a regular thing.

I've seen some documentaries where they've said that it was fixed. It didn't look like Ali really hit him that hard whatsoever. I wonder if Ali would've won even if it wasn't fixed.

In NJ, who was the boss of the boxing underworld in the 80s? I know Carbo used to be but he died in the 70s.

I strongly suggest that the second ali liston fight was no doubt fixed, the first one im not quite sure. but it would not surprise me. book out about Frankie depaula (middleweight from jersy} interesting talk from nj mob about his title shot against bob foster.

revis its a great read,i believe its called "boy from jersy" the kid wound up cathing a bullet, it paralyzed from the neck down. chuck wepner was a stablemate of his, he speaks of a lot of his fights. google Frankie depaula, he was a hitter in the ring, but highly mobbed up.

Just did a little research on it, was DePaula killed by the mob or is it all just a mystery?

Thank you for the suggestion and I'll definitely be making a forum about the book when I read it to get other people's thoughts on it.

Frankie Carbo and blinky palermo no doubt
fixed many fights during the heyday...jake lamotta lost on purpose just to get a shot at the title in the next fight.. Lamotta, let everyone know what was going on when he literally put his hands down and took a beating. In his next Fight he won the world midddleweight title.

yeah, carbo and blinky owned 1950s boxng. they owned jim Norris who was the ibc, some of kid gavilans fights were fixed, and johnny saxton most of his were fixed. im probably a lot older than you, karon1,but I always thought archie moore layed down for Floyd Patterson in their 1956 title bout.the mob owned boxing and if you didn't play ball you never got no where.
