I just read the book Mafia Cop about the illustrious career of a 1950's-1970's NYPD Detective (link below) under the pseudonym Michael Palermo. In it, he claims to have been security at the Rolling Stones Concerts, Altamont Concert among them. He claims to have had an antagonistic relationship with the Angels at that concert and describes an incident where he approaches them and they back down and promise not to cause trouble. Now this goes directly against the stories I have heard where the Hells Angels WERE the security for the Stones. Has anybody read this book or can they corroborate this guy's story? Frankly, as excellent as the book is, I find it fishy that this practically nameless detective's story goes against almost all other reading on the subject of the Stones security, specifically at that infamous Altamont concert.

Regardless, I recommend the book. It is even on Audible if you're too lazy to turn pages.
