Perfect music for when your girl has just left you and you're opening your third bottle of scotch for the day lol

Love the guy. The old stuff destroys anything that's showing up on commercial radio nowadays.

TIS

They had some great songs. TIS what song(s) or dance(s) did you like to dance to the most? Did you go out dancing? My parents always talked about how much they used to dance as teens then as young adults. I like hearing stories about that time period, got any?

I love the songs Don't Worry Baby and Good Vibrations. My Pop's loved the Beach Boys and I have no idea why, no one else listened to them in the family except him. They were playing a few years ago down in San Diego and I was going to get him tickets or take him to go see them. I never got to cuz my Pop's passed away that year cry cry cry cry

"Rockit" by Herbie Hancock, which prompted me to find and start listening to some of his early 1970s stuff...I guess it's jazz fusion, but sounds like P-funk to me.

I'm not sure how old you are Gets, but when I was a teen people would bring cardboard to school so they could use it to breakdance in the quad during break and lunch lol. This song was def one that was played. Fun times!
(I actually learned how to "pop" and "lock" no joke and do the "re-run" moves from What's Happening. Now if you are my age you will UNDERSTAND all this but if you're not lol I'm sure you can look it up online.

Great stuff DonMega!
In my opinion it also showcases how much more skillful a rapper Big L was compared to Jay Z. I wouldn't say Jay Z blows, but I could never get into much of his work. Big L on the other hand always killed it.

Always thought jayz was overrated - reasonable doubt & blueprint 1 are the only albums I like of his, never got why he got so much publicity

Exactly. The Blueprint is an album of his I once owned but it got lost somewhere. It wasn't bad, but there're other hip hop albums that got -and still get- far more rotation in my music library. I also have no idea how he got THAT popular. He isn't that much of a gifted rapper. Always flawless production on his albums though.

Not a lot of good new modern hip hop around these days. I listened to both of Kendrick Lamar's records and while it was good I wasn't blown away either. Guess I'm more of a sucker for the more old school rap vibe. Can't for the life of me get into stuff like Chance The Rapper, hipster shit.
