Anybody notice how much Tony's lawyer looks like Bruce Cutler? Also, Tony's lawyer gets involved with Tony (holding large amounts of cash, overhearing Tony say criminal things) - these favors are beyond a normal attorney-client relationship. Chase had to get his inspiration from some real life characters. Is this lawyer loosely based on Cutler?

I also think Moltisanti looks like Joey Merlino. If you look at photos they are oddly similar...the same chin, hair and same kind of crooked smile. Very similar...but I'm sure just a coincidence.

Was Tonys lawyer not quite a small framed guy, i don't think hes based on Cutler personally.

Cutler seemed highly strung energy, where as Tonys lawyer was more calm and collected. Or at least how Cutler was portrayed in movie Gotti.

What is the gift Tony gives him, was it water from the Scatino bust out or champagne, i could never tell.

Watched it this morning -- it's champagne; label's obscured. Mink says that the champagne was nice, but Tony would be giving him a better gift by staying out of trouble (like the Bing).

I don't see it. Cutler was very demonstrative in the courtroom. Clients would describe it as "Brucifying" someone on the stand. Other than them both being bald, that's where the similarities end.

I guess the only similarities are that they look alike (in my opinon) and both attorneys crossed the line very slightly into illegal behavior.

I read about Cutler today. It was slightly funny. FBI agents were saying that he went around kissing every guy at the Bergin non stop and must have wished he was a made guy.

Also....Gotti got off twice which made Cutler look great. But really Gotti bribed a juror in the first case and the government screwed up the second case. All Cutler had to do was sit there.

I may be mistaken, but didn't Gotti get acquitted three times?

If you're interested in Cutler, there is a great book called "Gangland" written by Howard Blum. It is primarily about how Bruce Mouw and the FBI built their case against Gotti, but there are some vivid descriptions of Cutler's courtroom antics. It also has a great account of Sammy Gravanno's description of Castellano's murder.

There's a lot of young guys that look like Joey Merlino in the mob.
