He plotted to kill Nicky Corozzo, Junior Gotti, and Steve Crea. He also killed Bobby Boriello and Patty Testa.

Perfect example of how selective they are about killing people these days. They shelved him the second he walked out of prison. And I'm sure he's more than happy about it lol.

Yeah, a lot of those Brooklyn guys have the pleasure of coming out to be shelved, along with another guy from Harlem who I know a lot of people on this board think is still a big shot

I just mentioned that in another thread. Those guys are all just happy to come out in one piece. Twenty years ago they gambled and crapped out. If this was a different time they'd probably all get popped, but things have changed. They'll take whatever the current administration gives them and be happy about it. The powerbase is firmly in the Bronx/Westchester faction of the family, and no one's going to challenge it because things are going pretty good for them right now.

And in all fairness to the guys who ended up on the wrong side (Lastorino, Zappola, Bowat, et al.), I should really add that they all did their time, like men, knowing full well that they'd probably get shelved or killed when they got out. They really don't make them like that anymore. Those guys are true gangsters.

Do you have any idea what they're doing now PB since they're shelved? Legitimate stuff?

Hi, sorry if this is a dumb question.. But what does shelved mean? Basically almost blackballed or a forced retirement? So he basically will have nothing to do with the life?

If they don't have a good stash saved then they are SOL. They have no marketable skills in the legit world.

That's wot I don't get , these guys were all true cosa Nostra and capable at dirty work , plus they were all stand up guys and I suspect they were earners . This must be why the mob is in decline . Why they wouldn't utilise these guys wen they got out I and put them to work instead of shelving them seems ludicrous to me , especially wen the gene pool is shrinking by the day . Lastorino was a hitter and former consigliere , conte was a captain and zappola seemed more than capable , surely crea would put them to work and get earning instead of putting them out to pasture

Would you reward the guys who plotted to kill you?

No prob not nicky , but there have been many instances were people have been forgiven they have let bygones be bygones for the greater good ( earning money ) which in reality is wot the mob is all about essentially , and all those guys were earners , it's not like there in the same vicinity now as crea and the administration , let them stay in Brooklyn and earn and kick up a piece of the action . Because they have plotted against them crea will be able to exploit them to the fullest extent

When Casso was burying Amuso in his book he inadvertently made him look good. Here is Casso scratching and clawing.. doing everything he can to avoid prison.. he wants Amuso to escape prison on horseback.. Amuso knew it was a stupid idea. He knew the jig was up. He stayed in prison and has kept his mouth shut ever since; while Casso won't shut the hell up and accept why he is there.

I wonder what happened to Casso's kids? I wonder if they have any relationship with him? They were supposed to be angry when he ratted.. and it took its toll on his wife's health too, they probably hold that against him. Maybe she wouldn't have been extorted if he had been a more honorable wiseguy.

As for Lastorino, Zappola and Baratta's financial affairs, Baratta is wealthy because he still has his own table at Rao's and I think his son is in the mafia too. Perhaps Pizzaboy knows.

I think I read here too that Zappola was transitioning back into the mob when he left prison. He's still young enough for it anyway and he has the pedigree.

I'd say Lastorino is persona non grata after what his son Carl did.

I invoke my right under the 5th amendment of the United States constitution and decline to answer the question.

Bowat's not hurting for money.

I doubt it, and from what I understand he has a lot of restrictions.

He's done. He's been home for years and not a peep out of him.

Pizza Boy has it totally right, these guys gambled and lost and i can say from what i heard there is still plenty of resentment toward those guys from the current administration, i heard too that they were making them report to guys in the bronx now too, even though their shelved just as extra punishment, i would say Bowat is the one with the most resentment against him id assume thats bc he was a Harlem guy like a lot of the current Bronx guys were growing up

Exactly. His betrayal stung all the more because he was from the Harlem/Bronx crew.
