"There's Something About Mary" still makes me belly laugh when I watch it.

"I could stand any insurance seminar. For days I could listen to them go on and on with a big smile on my face. And they'd say, 'how can you stand it?' All of the ones mentioned so far are great. Also My Cousin Vinny, Midnight Run, Get Shorty, The Jerk and The Burbs are among my favourites. I also really enjoy alot of subtle old comedies thanks to watching them with my mum when i was a kid. Like Bringing Up Baby, His Girl Friday, The Apartment, and City Lights.

The Burbs is a very underrated classic. Love that movie.

Another in my top 10 comedies of all time is The Big Lebowski. One of the most brilliantly written movies ever made.

Completely agree on Lebowski it's one of those movies that get's better every time you watch it, i'd also say Raising Arizona and Burn After Reading from the Coens. Another one for me would be Scorceses most underrated movie The King of Comedy.

All classics. If we're gonna go back that far, I'll throw in "Some Like it Hot." smile

I LOVE "The Apartment". (I love anything with Shirley MacLaine from the late '50s through the mid '60s). Even though it has a funny side to it, I'd consider it a drama rather than a comedy, though.

I'll add a few others:

"Airplane" - It's a spoof with bad puns, hilarious sight gags and silly dialog but it works to make me laugh.

"Animal House" - the funniest thing done by National Lampoon.

"It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" - slapstick and sight gags at their best, but mostly fun just seeing the awesome cast.

I liked the Naked Gun trilogy with Leslie Nielson. They were a spin off from a short lived TV series called Police Squad. They only shot 6 episodes, but if you can get them on video, they are absolute knee slappers.
It's hard to watch his older movies from his serious dramatic actor days. I keep expecting him to slam his head in a door, fart,or utter the classic line,"and don't call me Shirley".

"Caddyshack" is an '80s favorite of mine. Cut to the '90s, and I already mentioned "There's Something About Mary." But if we're talking about the Farrelly brothers I have to throw in "Kingpin." Woody Harrelson was perfect in that part as a White Trash hustler.

And "Tommy Boy." Yeah, I said "Tommy Boy." It's on Comedy Central right now and I can't stop laughing. David Spade is very underrated as both a comic and a straight man.

Finally, something we agree on.

You're being deliberately obtuse. We agree on plenty smile.

I thought Caddy shack was pretty funny. Especially playing golf in that rain storm. Playing the music from the ten commandments with the priest who was actually in the ten commandments and assorted other Cecil deMille movies like Samso an Deliah.

And the pool scene with the chocolate bar with the jaws music

I like a lot mentioned. One movie I saw a year ago for the first time that draws my attention whenever I see it on is "Napoleon Dynamite." Almost every piece of dialogue is humorous, and his brother's wedding is hilarious.

Another one of the greats. Made for very little money by former students here at BYU.

Hey, you two. You both better stop posting in this section or you might find out that you have a few things in common tongue grin.
