Doing some reading on al sharpton, Don king. The NOI comes up quite often in the background in some form or another. Theres a number of accounts of them having had encounters with organised crime and also participating in it not saying there all criminals or anything.

A lot of the philadelphia black mafia back in day were connected to the local NOI mosque and i think a cop once killed in a harlem mosque in front of louis farrakhan and they never actually convicted anyone of it.

Also found this a while back about their involvement in boxing.
http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=17...pg=7238,2214403

There was also this more public incident when a member of NOI assaulted a capos son with a shovel. Sorry about any spelling or grammar mistakes i copied and pasted it from the site.
http://www.mocavo.com/Congressional-Record-Volume-116/615534/70
Rosario Coccliiaro, on 5 24 64. was assaulted with a shovel by Matthew
Shumate,a Newark Nation of Islam | sub-ject | the Black Muslims consider them-selves a sect of the Nation of Islam) and suffered broken ribs and a collapsed lung.
Rosario was hospitalized until 5 26 66 Rosario and Shumate had a fight at a construction Job In the Elizabeth. N J. area. The DeCavaleante "family" was Initiallyinfuriated by Shumates action due to Rosario's father. Frank Cocchlaro. being a DeCavalcante "family" member. Prank asked for "satisfactlon" and meetings were held to determine the family's retaliation measures It was
decided at first that Shumate would be physically beaten. Then It was
decided that Shumate was to be murdered with a knife to make It look like a "ni**er Job." It was also considered to murder Shumate by using a pistol, due to Malcolm X being murdered by this method. In back of all this murderous Intent was the specter of the N O I. learning that Shumate would have been murdered by the DeCavaleante family and the possibility that the N.0.1. might retaliate in vengeance and cause an all-out war in the Elizabeth. N J . area. DeCavaleante finally decided to let this Incident "cool off” for a month’s time and persuaded the Interested DeCavaleante family's members to wait for this period of
time.

DeCavaleante met with Frank Majuri, his underboss, on 6 1 65. and at this time DeCavalcante said he had met with Carlo Gamblno that day and had told Carlo of this matter. Gamblno told DeCavaleante that a La Cosa Nostra member can ask for satisfaction In such an Instance, but he doesn't have to get it If there ls a risk of destroying the borgata | family | Based on what DeCavaleante told him. Gamblno recommended that any retaliation be held up for two to three months
DeCavaleante and Majurl. from their conversation now appear to be quite ready to hold retaliation in this matter In abeyance or forgetting about It altogether.

From what was said, they believe Rosario might have avoided this trouble as he started the fight and Majurl said Rosario wasn’t Injured that severely
Furthermore they said Shumate, being a Negro, wouldn’t know about showing respect to DeCavalcante family members or their children. Majurl asked DeCavaleante he had told Frank Cocchlaro of Gamblnos suggestion in this matter DeCavaleante said he hadn't.
DeCavaleante probably would have permitted almost Instantaneous retaliation
against Shumate If he wasn't a Muslim member. Frank Cocchiaro, not
Immediately known if this ls the Frank Cocchlaro known to be a capo in the DeCavaleante family or a relative of his, had met with DeCavalcante family members on 5'7/66, and told DeCavilcante that he and/or Rosario are willing to retaliate against Shumate on their own. Frank Cocchlaro said that if
didn't want to bring trouble on any other DeCavaleante family member as he considered this matter to be a personal threat. DeCavaleante told him that he wouldn't permit Cocchlaro to handle any retaliation
measure alone.
The following logged by an F.B.l. agent on May 27. 1965: Sam asks Frank (Majurl | "What do you think?" "Do you think we should go all in? ’ They are still concerned with the fact that he |Shumate | ls a Black Muslim. They are thinking about potssibly using Corky to pose as a cop and bring the guy out on suspicion of narcotics because he is a narcotics addict.
Frank suggests that they wait a little while to see how the compensation case
!Rosario's) works out and the stories that come out. In case the guy Is knocked off It might look like a case of vengence If anyone told the real story about the beating.
On June 3. 1965. NK 2461-C• reported the following outcome to the Rosario-Shumate incident.

Concerning the Shumate affair, Larry Wolfson, DeCavalcante's business partner asked DeCavaleante what would be done In retribution for his [Shumate) having hit "that kid" (Rosario| with a shovel. Sam replied. "You can't do nothing to him."

It's hard to imagine some religious organization standing against and winning a confrontation against the NYPD. The mayor and police commissioner didn't even attend the dead cop's funeral. It was a different NYPD, different NOI, and different New York back then.

I'm no fan of their dumb racial mumbo jumbo or even Islam in general but I respect what the Nation of Islam has done in terms of community and power.

In Philly the Muslims who controlled Graterford and run so much of black Philadelphia crime are not Nation of Islam anymore. They are Sunni and less disciplined and more out of control.

Louis Farrakhan has obviously toned-down his fiery speech and racial comments. but I think there is a few skeletons in his closet. The founder of NOI (Wally Fard) was in my opinion a fraud and scammer. No-one even really knows where he was really from when he showed up in Detroit preaching his NOI stuff to the poor blacks. He was from New Zealand, from Los Angeles, from Mecca, etc, etc... so many conflicting stories. He even had many names - Fard, Ford, etc, etc....

I read that the call they answered from the mosque was a false and that they suspect that members of the black liberation army set it up. Also the alleged killer dupree x is doing a 15 year bid in north carolina for drug trafficking. Also when they were gonna rename the street after the dead cop but the nypd told the officer that wanted to do it that he needed the blessing of the local muslim leaders.

There was that imam that was connected up with city government and drug traffickers,Is he out of prison yet?

Also I'm sure one of kaboni savages friends and associates was a guy called dawud bey, they were a pretty notorious family around south philly.

2 women slain; 1 was a witness
8 months in protection program
By KITTY CAPARELLA
Philadelphia Daily News

caparek@phillynews.com 215-854-5880

About eight months ago, Chante Wright, 23, entered the federal Witness Protection Program so she could testify about a 2000 murk related to a rapper's new contract.

Despite [rip] threats, she couldn't stay away from the old South Philly neighborhood, especially after she learned her beloved grandmother was dying in North Philadelphia.

Within seven hours of arriving here from Jacksonville, Fla., on Friday, Wright, whose name had been changed to Chante Jackson, was dead.

She was the second witness to be k#lled who was to testify against Hakeem Bey, 26, charged with k#lling Moses Williams in 2000. Bey is being held on murk charges at the Curran Fromhold Correctional Facility on State Road for a mid-March trial.

"I can't say if she got murked because she was a witness," said a source familiar with Bey's upcoming murk trial.

Bey had been rearrested, in part, because Wright was willing to testify, according to another source, familiar with her testimony.

At 2 a.m. on Saturday, Wright was fatally shot numerous times in her torso on Patton Street near Tasker, only seven blocks from where Bey and his clan claim their drug turf.

Bey is the nephew of Dawud Bey, who once ruled the violent, drug-infested South Philadelphia neighborhood, south and west of Broad and Tasker streets.

Relatives and friends took over after Dawud Bey was convicted of federal drug charges in 2006 with the notorious drug trafficker Kaboni Savage, who vowed to k#ll babies, witnesses and cops.

According to Homicide Sgt. Charles Coan, Wright was found on the sidewalk beside the car she had driven. Sitting in the pa##enger seat was Octavia Green, 23, of Lambert Street near York, who was also shot multiple times in the torso.

Paramedics pronounced Wright dead at 2:13 a.m. and Green died at 2:15 a.m.

"Don't come back to Philadelphia," she was warned by law-enforcement sources familiar with [rip] threats against her.

But Wright had been calling home on her cell phone, and wanted to visit her gravely ill grandmother before she pa##ed away, according to a source close to the investigation.

Meantime, officials in the Witness Protection Program discovered the prohibited calls and recently kicked her out of the program, the source added. But she remained in Jacksonville, where she was relocated.

In the summer of 2000, friends were celebrating the luck of a pal from the neighborhood who had made it big. The up-and-coming rapper, whose name is being withheld out of safety concerns, had just signed a recording contract with CBS Records.

To promote its new star, CBS bought a van, covered it with a silkscreen image of the young rap star, and drove it through South Philadelphia, said a source close to the investigation.

When the van reached 22nd and Tasker streets — a neighborhood then controlled by convicted drug dealer Dawud Bey and his gang, who were aligned with rapper Beanie Sigel — gunmen shot up the van, the source said.

The Bey gang wanted to control rappers from the area, but Wright's friend was from a rival neighborhood, which couldn't be controlled, according to police a##igned to a homicide task force to combat the rising number of unsolved murks then.

Bey is in federal prison in Schuylkill County, 46 miles north of Harrisburg. Sigel, whose real name is Dwight Grant, is in custody in a federal community corrections facility at 2nd and Chestnut streets for a probation violation.

The night of the big celebration, Wright, the rapper and their friends jumped into two cars and headed to Titan Street near 23rd, according to police reports.

Wright was sitting in the rear of the second car when Hakeem Bey allegedly fired into the car. Moses Williams, in his early 20s, was sitting in the front pa##enger seat and was hit multiple times, according to investigators.

Williams died later that night.

That night, Wright told homicide detectives that Hakeem Bey was the alleged shooter, and "never changed from day one," said one of the investigators.

But police were concerned about taking a 15-year-old witness, who lived in the neighborhood, to trial.

Eventually, detectives found another witness, Omar Morris, then in his 40s, who was standing on 23rd Street just north of Titan and provided authorities with details of the murk.

Early Christmas morning, Morris was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in the area of 17th and Master streets. The night before, he had been asked to go for a ride and was not seen afterward, according to authorities.

About 2004, Hakeem Bey was arrested on murk charges. Shortly before the trial, a decision was made not to go forward out of concern for the safety of certain witnesses, said a source familiar with the trial.

Last year, Bey was rearrested for the Williams murk. Wright agreed to testify, and federal authorities promised to sponsor her and her 4-year-old son in the Witness Protection Program.

"I feel terrible about it," said another investigator.

"This wouldn't have happened if she didn't come home," said another source. "I hope they get these bastards who did this. She was a really nice girl." *

There are A LOT of members of NOI in Philadelphia PA. A friend of mine went to college there and I'd visit him and he said how his roommate who was from Pakistan and other Muslim people he knew from other countries could easily tell that they were members of NOI, and that they did not really consider members of NOI to be really pracitising Islam since instead of following Muhammad or Allah they follow Elijah Muhammad, and that NOI are instead racist as there are Muslims and followers of Islam of all races and Islam accepts people of all races and not just black people.

NOI is extremist, even of they try to act diplomatic wearing bow-ties and their 'Sunday best' while Farrakhan drives around in a Rolls Royce, no kidding.

If he was the genuine item he would at least drive a vehicle "made in Detroit".

Don't be racist, fair enough, but don't buy Farrakhan's crap.

black muslim King Samir Shabazz, of the Philadelphia New Black Panther Party, which claim a positive relationship with the NOI, seems to have taken the anti-white black extremist message to its absolute pinnacle

I wonder if there's some way prosecutors could use the RICO laws to lock up some of these shitbirds.

I think the black liberation army were a lot more deadlier than the black panthers in there time.

The 5 percenters were another break away group of the NOI. Big time drug dealers Supreme mcgriff, Daryll god whiting, midget molly were all members and they are considered a street gang/prison grouping.

It's likely that Farrakhan acts diplomatic while courting his more street-level extremist hate-groups to do the dirty work (unless their threats of violence are only talk).

Farrakhan began life as a calypso singer. He should've stuck with it.

Atlantic city also used to have some gangs called the abdullahs and their rivals were the hanifs or khans or something. It seems that a lot of the black muslim identity in gangs is prevalent around the philadelphia and new jersey area.

Cops Bust Drug Gang In A.c. Terrorized Housing Project

by Nicole Weisensee, Daily News Staff Writer
POSTED: February 17, 1995
ATLANTIC CITY — They drove to New York, purchased heroin and then returned to a public housing project here to terrorize residents while peddling their deadly product.

But yesterday, the operation was closed down by more than 200 federal, state and local law enforcement officers who rounded up 18 of 21 alleged members of the gang called "The Abdullahs" in early-morning raids. Three suspects remained at large.

"This is a big day in the fight against crime in Atlantic City," said U.S. Attorney Faith Hochberg.

The Abdullahs also got into turf wars with rival drug gangs that sometimes ended in gunfire in which innocent people were injured, federal authorities said.

The gang sold most of its heroin and cocaine at the Shore Park housing project.

Chris Fontaine, 23, who used to live in the project and whose mother still resides there, reacted strongly to the arrests.

"They deserve it, all the trouble they start, all the shooting and the drugs," he said. "You name it. They did it. It's about time they cleaned it up."

Robert "Hanif Abdullah" Simpson, also known as "Komrade Chairman," the alleged leader of the gang, was arrested at the home of his girlfriend, Yahanne Cooper, who lives on Lindbergh Boulevard near 77th Street, Philadelphia.

She was charged with harboring a fugitive, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeremy Frey.

Simpson allegedly fled from Atlantic City after trying to kill Karlton Cochran, an associate of the "Pittney Village" gang, on Dec. 29.

Simpson also was involved in the shooting of another rival gang member in March, 1991, and had a violent encounter with "Pitney Village" group members at The Mirage, an Atlantic City nightclub, in November 1994, authorities said.

The 44-count indictment depicts gang activity that included drug sales, gun-slinging, shootings and hired "mercenaries" who backed up threats of violence against drug-selling rivals. It also charges Simpson with attempted murder and threatening a witness.

Drug competition grew so stiff that the gang offered consumers ''specials," which consisted of free cocaine with a heroin purchase, authorities said.

"These are bad guys," said Atlantic City Mayor James Whelan. "These are not guys who are on the margin . . . The good guys won today."

Federal authorities declined to say how much the gang was taking in. They did say they confiscated about $20,000 in yesterday's raids.

"The Abdullahs gang has been a very violent organization," said Barry

Mawn, an FBI special agent in New Jersey.

"Since about October of 1994 they have been involved in at least a dozen shootings in which 11 people were seriously injured. At least half were innocent bystanders," he said.

Reaction to the drug raid at the Shore Park housing project yesterday was mixed.

Some residents denied that The Abdullahs are an organized gang. Others said drugs are such a pervasive problem in the project that one raid won't make any difference.

Two guys commented on the drug problem as they sold what looked to be marijuana. They then proceeded to smoke a marijuana cigarette that they passed back and forth.

One woman who lives in the project who didn't want to be identified said she is skeptical that the raid will have any long-term effects on the drug problem.

"The drugs will be back on the street tonight," she said. "It's sad but true."

al-amin, aka h. rap brown lead a violent muslim sect in atlanta that robbed and extorted drug dealers. during their reign, they imposed a curfew in atlanta and criminals had to be off the streets after dark. I actually had 1 of them pull a rifle on me on one occasion when I was out at night. anyway, here's a good article on them from about 6 years ago.

Alleged hitman talks about Al-Amin's career The former militant H. Rap Brown hid crimes against West End behind cloak of religion, murder suspect tells police.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The (GA) - Sunday, February 17, 2008

An admitted hitman awaiting trial in Fulton County for murder has revealed details about the life and alleged crimes of notorious cop-killer Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin.

It's a slice of Atlanta's history that has long remained a mystery. But as the case against the hitman, Leonard Devin Holland, 40, winds its way through the court system, a voluminous paper trail has been made public, finally revealing details about the moblike crime ring that for years dominated the streets of southwest Atlanta.

Atlanta police detectives and FBI and ATF agents tried to break up the group for years, according to police records. But the killings continued until Atlanta police narcotics detectives targeting a drug house in 2004 stumbled onto something much bigger.

Police found Holland with marijuana, handguns, assault rifles, a DeKalb County sheriff's badge, an Atlanta Police Department gun, SWAT uniforms, bullet-resistant vests, gas masks and a Russian-made chemical agent detector.

After Holland's arrest, Atlanta police Detective Bobby Render, who specialized in organized crime, said Holland, 40, admitted in a tape-recorded confession to killing several people. Police believe the death toll may be as high as 50. eek

On Tuesday, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Craig Schwall issued an order allowing prosecutors to tell jurors about 11 prior homicides they believe are linked to Holland.

"This is the most dangerous guy I've ever met and I've been in law enforcement 30 years," Render said.

When Holland sat down with Render, the hitman spent eight hours detailing his life of crime and his connections to Al-Amin.

According to a transcript of the confession, Holland told the detective: "I got to hope and pray that you're able to handle what I'm going to tell you and not look at me like I'm some parasite and not look at me like: 'You deserve the death penalty,' I have been a monster, sir."

Holland told police that as a Muslim he needed to "clear his soul." During his confession, he expressed remorse for some of the killings and at times burst into tears, saying: "God forgive me."

Holland told police he worked as a "top lieutenant" for Al-Amin.

The 1960s militant, formerly known as H. Rap Brown, is now serving a life sentence at the nation's most secure prison, Supermax, a federal facility in Colorado that also houses an al-Qaida terrorist and Centennial Olympic Park bomber Eric Rudolph. Al-Amin was convicted for killing a Fulton County sheriff's deputy in March 2000 and wounding his partner.

Al-Amin has insisted he turned away from violence toward a peaceful life of faith and was wrongly targeted by police because of his past.

But Holland, and some others who claimed to have followed the orders of Al-Amin and attended his West End mosque, have told police a different story: how Al-Amin ruled the area through intimidation and violence. They say he hid behind religion, convincing many well-intended members of his mosque that he was trying to rid the area of drugs.

Instead, police said, Al-Amin controlled an organized network that terrorized the streets of southwest Atlanta for years, killing dozens.

Drug dealers robbed

Holland told police he grew up in New York and started his life of crime early, shooting a couple of people before moving to Atlanta in the mid-1980s at age 18.

He settled into the West End community, where he met Al-Amin. Holland joined Al-Amin's West End mosque and began using the Muslim name Shaheed Abdur Rahman.
He eventually was named one of Al-Amin's top lieutenants and helped extort money from drug dealers. After his 2004 arrest, Holland helped police draw an organizational chart, with Al-Amin at the top, according to court documents.

Holland claimed Al-Amin had a top assistant, followed by an inner circle of seven that he was a part of. Holland said he headed the Sutra, or security team. They were the enforcers who would rob and kill.

They said Al-Amin promised the community he would clean up the drug dealing prominent on the streets and even near children playing in area parks. Al-Amin would set a curfew, often 9 p.m. on weeknights.

Then he'd send out the security team to open fire on anyone left on the streets. Those who paid a "protection fee" got an advance warning.

Drug dealers' guns were stolen and sold by Al-Amin, police said.

According to Atlanta police documents, local police and the FBI were investigating Al-Amin's crime ring as early as 1992, but police say it's been difficult to get enough evidence to prosecute.

During his confession, Holland explains why. They were careful to wipe away evidence and hurry the murder weapons out of town, often selling them on the streets of New York City.

And they were experts at intimidation, scaring away witnesses. One woman, Shannon Frazier, was about to tell police what she knew, when she was shot in the head on Dec. 26, 2003, said Atlanta police homicide detective D.B. Mathis. Prosecutors believe Holland ordered the woman's death.

8 linked homicides

Holland was a follower of Al-Amin, but also had his own ambitions.

He recruited young black males and started a robbery crew of about 10 core members who called themselves "The Clan" but were known throughout the area as the "West End Assassins."

"We robbed from South Carolina to Florida," Holland said.

Holland and his crew, all of whom were Muslims, were upset about developments in Iraq and thought about some type of attack to show their disdain for what they called unfair treatment of Muslims by the United States, he said.

When Holland was arrested, police found fake Super Bowl credentials with behind-the-scenes access to the upcoming 2005 face-off between the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles in Jacksonville.

Holland told police they trained in a park off Cascade Road but didn't have firm plans in place. But investigators believe he is telling them only a portion of what he and his crew have carried out.

Holland, who briefly worked for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution delivering papers in 2004, is charged with only one murder, the March 2002 killing of James Gary Jones, 36.

Jones was a fellow Muslim known in the neighborhood as "Rafi" and was close friends with Holland until the two had a disagreement.

Fulton prosecutor Brett Pinion also persuaded the judge to allow evidence at trial about eight other homicides linked to Holland to show a pattern of violence, according to court records.

Pinion also plans to tell jurors about Holland's 1991 confession in which he admitted helping his friends with three other West End killings in 1990 and 1991.

Prosecutors are pushing for a murder conviction and sentence of life without parole.

Holland's trial is on hold while his attorney, Ash Joshi, appeals the trial judge's order allowing evidence of the other 11 homicides to go to the Georgia Supreme Court. He is also asking the high court to toss out Holland's confession.

There is a branch of NOI called Fruit of Islam and it's the NOI security division. They patrol black housing projects to keep the peace and keep out the drug dealers... and then we hear of NOI's links to thuggish black Muslim gangs and dealers?

new update on that mosque cop murder from back in 72 in harlem.

Renaming street for slain Officer Phillip Cardillo could 'open old wounds'
Police Commissioner Bill Bratton is distancing himself from the plan to name the street in front of the 28th Precinct in the slain cop’s honor.
BY THOMAS TRACY NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Sunday, April 13, 2014, 8:06 PM A

A plan to honor a Harlem cop killed by Nation of Islam radicals is drowning under a flood of racial tensions created more than four decades ago, but no one wants to throw it a lifeline — not even the NYPD’s new top cop.

Police Commissioner Bill Bratton is distancing himself from the controversial push to get the street in front of the 28th Precinct renamed in honor of Officer Phillip Cardillo, who was shot and killed inside a mosque run by Louis Farrakhan in 1972 — noting that the community should make the final decision.

"The Police Commissioner always welcomes the honoring and memorializing of fallen NYPD officers,” Deputy Commissioner Stephen Davis, the NYPD’s top spokesman, said when asked if Bratton favored the street renaming. “However, the issue of street naming is primarily a decision for the community board and other local leaders."

Cardillo’s family, friends, and former police officers marked the 42nd anniversary of the cop’s death with an annual motorcycle ride from his grave at Calvary Cemetery in Queens to the W. 123rd St. cop shop — and were not shy about lashing out against how Bratton sidestepped the issue.

Grandson, T.J. Cardillo, 15, Son, Todd Joseph Cardillo, 41, attended the memorial ride for Officer Phillip Cardillo at the 28th. Precinct.

“I don’t think it’s a good representation of his brotherhood of blue,” said Christopher Cardillo, 46, the fallen cop’s first cousin. “Why should the community’s vote have such a strong presence when we are talking about renaming a street outside a police station for a police officer? How could that be a bad thing for the community?”

Manhattan’s Community Board 10 hasn’t reviewed the proposal since last May, even though advocates pushing for the renaming handed over thousands of petition signatures and Inspector Rodney Harrison, the former commanding officer of the 28th Precinct, made a personal plea to honor Cardillo.

Before the issue was shelved, board members voiced concerns that the street renaming would displease local Muslims and “open old wounds.”

The racially-charged incident began when Cardillo, 31, and his partner, Vito Navarra, entered Mohammad Mosque No. 7 on W. 116th St. and Lenox Ave. — where Malcolm X once preached — after receiving a bogus 911 call about a detective in need of assistance.

The two cops were quickly overpowered by about 15 men. During the attack, someone took Cardillo’s gun and shot him in the chest.

The father of three children, the oldest 5, the youngest just 2, died of his wounds six days later.

Why should the community’s vote have such a strong presence when we are talking about renaming a street outside a police station for a police officer?
At the time, Farrakhan said the cops came “charging into our temple like criminals and were treated like criminals.”

Because of the political tensions at the time, the city apologized for what they called a police "invasion." Neither Mayor John Lindsay nor Police Commissioner Donald Cawley attended Cardillo’s funeral, said family friend and retired NYPD Detective Randy Jergensen, who later wrote the book “Circle of Six” about the murder.

The main suspect in the shooting was Louis 17X Dupree. Dupree, who now goes by the name Khalid Ali and is in his 70s, was arrested twice for murder and was set free after two trials, officials said.

The NYPD’s Major Case Squad is still investigating the shooting, officials said.

Christopher Cardillo said the fallen cop’s three children are pretty close to giving up hope that an arrest will be made — or that the street will be named in their father’s honor.

“Haven’t we come far enough as a society to not be afraid of a race riot and tell the truth?” he asked. “If we can’t seek justice, then the least we can do is have a proper dedication to an officer who lost his life in the performance of his dut y.”

Attempts to reach the Nation of Islam for comment were not successful.
