Salvator J. Pieri, alias "Sam Pieri and Samuel Johns," was born January 29, 1911. He risides at West Avenue, Buffalo NY.
Sal was first arrested for grand larceny first degree and burglary third degree, on June 4, 1928. His next arrest came about 2 years later in October of 1930, this time for petty larceny. About three months later he was picked up on an indictment warrant charging him with robbery first degree in Rochester NY.
This indictment was later dismissed. In September 1931 Pieri received a 60 day sentence in Erie Count Penn for smuggling. In the early part of 1933 Pieri was again arrested for robbery first degree and grand larceny second degree.
About a month later, both charges were dismissed. In March and May of 1935 Pieri was arrested and charged both times with consorting with known criminals. His next arrest came in January 1942, when he was charged with carrying a loaded concealed weapon, and concealing an escaped prisoner.
His last arrest came in May 1954, when he was arrested for violation of Federal Narcotics Laws. He received a 10 year sentence at Atlanta Fedral Prison. Pieri served approximately 8 yrs and 4 months of his sentence, and arrived back in Buffalo on May 7, 1963.
At the present time Pieri is unemployed and living with his daughter at Buffalo NY. Pieri has close ties with his brother John, also known as "John Rai," now serving a life sentence for murder in Ohio State Penn. where he has been for the last 25 yrs.
Pieri has a sister, Mrs. Elsie DiCarlo, who is the wife of Joe DiCarlo, formerly of Buffalo NY., and who has been branded by former Buffalo commissioner as Public Enemy No.1.
Pieri was topman in the Buffalo area for the organization before his arrest in 1954. While in prison, Fred G. Randaccio has replaced him and is so solidly entrenched that his removal is difficult to achieve.
There is a possibility that there will be a struggle for power in an attempt by Pieri to regain his position as the head of the Buffalo Family dynasty.
His associates and codefendants include:
Sylvester Poliafiaco, alias "Sam Polo"
Nunzio Romano
Ben Yusolivich
Angelo Filicia
Anthony Desimone
Frank Consolo
Steven Simmons
Alfred Warren
Anthony Crishci
Anthony Nassilli
Harry Ricobene
Salvatore Lazzaro
Michael Erra
Amato Bucci.
He also has close associations with:
Salvatore Rizzo
Stefano Magaddino
Antonio Magaddino
James LaDuca
John C. Montana

He had close ties to Jimmy and Pat Terzini, Cosimo Andaloro, Rocco Louri, (all deceased) and the local 442 and local 35 LIUNA crews.
While it was before my time, I was told years ago that the power struggle between Pieri and Freddie Lupo was highly overstated.

Is this the same John Rai who worked for Yonnie Licavoli in Toledo?

Willie Marfeo to Henry Tameleo:

1) "You people want a loaf of bread and you throw the crumbs back. Well, fuck you. I ain't closing down."

2) "Get out of here, old man. Go tell Raymond to go shit in his hat. We're not giving you anything."

As this thread processed I noticed were moving closer to Clevland, given the last response said Toledo... Buffalo Cleveland Pittsburgh Bufalino all worked together hopefully we'll him something about OC Activity being conducting at Youngstown given it's history and discretion.

You will always find connected dots between Cleveland, Buffalo and NE Penn. Pre D'Elia, Buffalo and the Buffalinos were the two tightest families in all the LCN, overlapping territory, join ventures, so much so the Feds had trouble telling who was with who.
Remember, long before he became the Cleveland boss, Peanuts was a Buffalo grunt, and he never gave up his old associations.
