This is hardly the first gang in the department, as the article states. Another on is called the "Jump Out Boys." They have tattoos, gang signs, and banners. One of the Banditos was arrested in a sweep the Feds did a couple months ago charging deputies with abuses inmates at the jail and trying to cover it up.
The department is so corrupt, its ridiculous. The sheriff even resigned because of so much controversy, from gangs, shootings, racial profiling, abusing inmates, and even stealing money from inmates being booked into the jail. Can't say I'm surprised, almost fifteen years after rampart and Sheriffs Dept and LAPD look more and more like the gangs they're allegedly policing.
