Anyone with info on this one?

Random guy gets murdered outside his house in a manner that looks like a hit.

Turns out a house across the street belongs/belonged to an Outfit bigwig.
Police speculate there may have been a botched hit.

Seems the story went cold.

I tend to agree with that.

Business partners in disagreements over money/power leading to violence happens all the time. I do find it a crazy coincidence though.

This has actually been discussed in several threads about the Outfit. Basically, this happened when there was supposedly a conflict within the Outfit. I think Anthony Zizzo was feuding with Mike Sarno, which resulted in Zizzo's disappearance. I am not sure how Sal Cautadella fits into this but I guess the rumor is he was targeted and the hitman killed the wrong guy. Who knows if this is true. Some of the other posters could give more information.

Other posters have said that Cautadella hadn't lived in Park Ridge in a long time. So, who knows?

Cautadella's adult son was living in Park Ridge at the time...Sammy C had long-since moved to Westchester at that point and everyone in the Outfit knew it. Not sure there was an Outfit connecton, but who knows.
