I thought it is a disgrace to have rev. ray on espn to talk about any negative going on in the NFL.... funniest moment was when denzel washington asked ray if he wanted to be on training day or if he could act.... pray lewis has been "acting" innocent for almost 15 years
only one person has called for goodell to step down and that was keith olberman

He's been calling for it since July. Honestly, Goodell needs to go no matter if he saw the video or not. Suspending him for 2 games was the biggest joke ever. It sounded like he was caught speeding a couple times instead of assaulting somebody.

I so agree with you Merlino. These ex law enforcement officials who run their security teams had to have seen the video and reported it to the NFL and Ravens. They contacted the Casino and the Atlantic County state attorney and "unofficially" seen its content. I think a lot of people surrounding this (The commissioner, coaches) might have said, I don't want to see the video, just tell me, do you see Ray smack her on video? and then kept quiet hoping the whole video was never released.

What I think happened was that Goodell and the Ravens were assured that the video of the assault would never come out. They gambled on that and now look terrible as a result. In today's media age of instant information, Goodell and the Ravens were plain dumb if they really believed that the video would never surface. And supposing they knew it would surface, then they were negligent for not demanding to see the video.

Either way, Goodell is unfit to hold the title of NFL Commissioner.

Goodell is using this to hopefully save his ass. He suspends him indefinitely now, but why didn't he do that in the first place? We saw the video of him dragging his fiancé out of the elevator knocked out cold was that not enough? Was seeing the actual video of him hitting her really that big of a deal? We know that he knocked her out. Could goodell really not picture in his mind the image of ray rice punching his wife and knocking her out cold? The actual video is sickening, but why didn't Goodell come down this hard in the first place if he already knew she was knocked out. I wouldn't be surprised if goodell have the go ahead himself to leak the video just so he could get vindication for the people complaining so they could hopefully get off of his back. The man is a terrible commissioner.

You may be spot on...but then once the casino went bankrupt and then shut its doors a week or 2 ago...then somebody may have been trying to make an extra dollar here or there.....kind of bad for the NFL to not know that Revl was going to go under.....Goodell no bueno

Goodell is an opportunistic worm. His EVERY decision is purely political and ALWAYS PC.......he's a spineless mouthpiece for a league that once prided itself on its athletes and image, but sadly now is a platform for liberal ideals.

2 seasons ago he was. He was a pro bowler multiple times so he used to be great. But last season he was absolutely terrible. And this season well.... You know the rest.

He'll probably play in the nfl again though. People have done things worse and still played after. Donte stallworth killed someone, mike Vick killed dogs in dog fighting, so he'll be back. It'd be unfair if he wasn't because if they can keep playing then rice should be able to keep playing. Obviously what he did was terrible and he's a coward but you can't ban him from the game and not ban stallworth or Vick.

Worse by far, hitting a woman is pretty much as far as a man can sink; but causing a death is always going to be worse. Recently i watched a documentary called There's Something Wrong With Aunt Diane, which really drove (no pun intended) the dangers of drunk driving home for me. I'm sure that most here are aware of this since it seems like there's alot of members from NY/NJ, but here's the wiki page of the incident. frown

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_Taconic_State_Parkway_crash

Here's the doc if anyones interested, but you'll end up infuiated at the husbands denial. While i completely understand denial in this case, the dad says more than once that he didn't want his son who was the only survivor of this horrific car crash, and he's now suing his wifes (who caused the crash) brother who lost 3 children because he was the owner of the vehicle mad.

Don't forget the Commish is employed by the owners for the tidy sum of $30 mil. He main job is to make money for the NFL. Nothing more needs to be said.

We're a full game into the season and all anyone is talking about is domestic abuse and sexual allegations.

Speaks volumes about the league wink.

And last year around this time, it was the Incognito-Martin bullying scandal. The year before (I think) was Bountygate. It's always something. The NFL has turned into quite a thug league under Goodell.

Actually I think Tagliabue had let it get out of control and Goodell was supposed to be the harsh enforcer, his reaction to Bountygate was over the top.

Anyway it takes a real man to knock a woman completely unconscious.

Right...

I'm sure there's a history there and serious anger issues with Rice.

He's one of the physically strongest men at the running back I've seen. For any of these guys to act like that borders on attempted homicide.

Hey...I'm sure Ray Rice is very embarrassed over this incident..after all,it took him two punches to bring her down.

Well, I am so disappointed in my Steelers. Except for Bell, the team looked more distracted than the Ravens were expected to be. For the first time I am concerned about Tomlin's coaching. Well, we'll see how they do against the Panthers in 10 days; that performance will tell us alot about the Steelers season.

I think we have been seeing Tomlin's coaching/drafting for the last few years. Most expect another 8-8 season from him. His drafting of very questionable talent/character (ie. Adams, Rainy, T'amatu, etc..) is and has been on display for years now, not to mention all the off-the-field bs that NEVER occurred prior to his arrival. He initially rode the coat tails of Cowher and his assts...but the current act is running thin...like you say, we shall see.

Now Adrian Peterson has been indicted on child abuse charges. The NFL's Week from Hell continues. Never has the league had such a black eye after Week 1.

Warning, some pictures of the abuse is in the link. And, I believe it is official now that it is a 4 year old that he used a switch on.

More details with the link above. This is just disgusting.

This is obviously a touchy subject but this just seems ridiculous. Child abuse, really?? Fucking joke.
