I think the Rams are toast in that division this year. I don't know if the Cardinals can repeat a 10 win season, but when they were that good and didn't make the playoffs, the Rams relying on Shaun Hill haven't a prayer.

Bradford has torn ACL. I never had that much confidence in him. Without him, the Rams are going nowhere.

Good to see the Packers had a good pre season game last week. Must say that the Raiders have a tough offensive line.

I just read that QB Brady Quinn was cut by the Dolphins. Such a fall. He was drafted by the Browns in Rd 1 of the 2007 draft out of Notre Dame. Everyone thought he was going to be an NFL star. The Dolphins were his 7th team. Even sadder is the fate of Colt McCoy out of Texas who was drafted by Cleveland in 2010 and is now with his 3rd team, the Redskins.

We brought him in to "compete" with Matt Moore less than a month ago and already terminated his contract. He needs to go to CFL for a few years, he was a pick six machine at practices.

I don't think Quinn had a chance. He was with the team a mere two weeks, certainly not enough time to absorb the system and whatnot.

It does look like former Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen will be the No. 2 for Chicago.

I thought Clausen was going to be successful as a pro though I believed he wasn't ready when he left ND early for the draft.

I just came across a stat that says that of the 20 QBs in the last ten SBs, Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, and Big Ben have started 12 of them. Eli and Ben were drafted in 2004, Tom in 2000, and Peyton in 1998. Does that say something about ability, stability, and experience?

College QBs must cringe when Cleveland picks them. I guess Johnny Manziel has an excellent chance of bouncing around.

My wife and two of my kids are going to Yankee Stadium for Derek Jeter Day. My other son has work, but that leaves me free to watch the Steelers at 1 in front of the tv. I'll be gnawing on either a giant cheesesteak or a big burrito from Chipotle.

It is so good to have the NFL start tonight.

You're so lucky Kly. I can't find a local bar that has the NFL package, so I'll be listening to the Steelers on ESPN radio. Thank God they'll be nationally televised about 5 or 6 times this season.

By the way, according Merrill Hoge: "Manziel is a 'juvenile punk,'will turn out like Tebow."

I agree.

Not for nothing, I don't even like the Jets. I can't stand Rex, and they deserve to be criticized. But can someone please tell Ray Lucas that he SUCKED as a quarterback and that his constant criticism of others playing the position is a joke? rolleyes

Jets looked ok but nothing to make me go crazy or get excited. Die hard jet fan, but I have to see a lot more. Tonight's game is gonna be really good maybe even a classic if it's half as good as last years game. I'll have to change it in between in order to watch boardwalk empire though.

Well, the NJ Jets did end up beating the Raiders. Let's see if they can keep it up. Meanwhile, New York's only team, the Bills won their game

I hate to bring you down, but as long as EJ Manuel is at the helm the bills aren't going anywhere. It's not like they faced a solid bears defense yesterday. But the season is long so we will see.

Because of the fiasco concerning Ray Rice, I think Goodell could be on his way out.

Didn't the Head coach stand by Rice? He must have seen the video. If he did, he too should get fired!

I dont think the HC saw the video but definitely the Atlantic County state attorney had to seen the video because the state oversees the casinos. And the NFL has ex-cops and ex-FBI agents that run their security teams so they knew or saw of the video and goodell the buc stops there....goodell needs to go

Absolutely. Goodell should be forced to step down if he saw that video beforehand. And that animal should be caged because men who beat women are only second to pedophiles on the food chain.

And to think, I used to be "proud" of that kid because he's a local. Of course I don't know him, but he went to New Rochelle High School, which is just up 95 from here in Throggs Neck.

I agree with Pizzaboy. Goodell has to go over this. He can't be judge & jury and then mess this situation up so bad. I don't buy for one second that Goodell or someone in the league office hadn't seen the video before the 2 game suspension was levied.

What made my blood boil was that piece of shit Ray Lewis saying how different his situation was from Rice. Yeah murdering two people is different than beating a woman. The biggest difference was that in 2000, when 2 people died in Lewis' limo, none of it was caught on tape. The other difference is that Lewis got away with murder while Rice was caught on camera. I would say Lewis is less similar to Rice, but very similar to fellow double murderer OJ Simpson.
