Heck of a video. Had never seen it before. I've read the story of Hal Smith and the "set-up" several times starting with FS, but never saw any faces except Rocky Infelice. Also, never saw Mitch Mars on video.

These videos bring reality to how ruthless these guys really are.

Oh, almost forgot, two more on video: DeLaurentis and Bellavia (not sure about the spelling). I've seen pictures but no videos.

Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely fascinating video of an Absolutely fascinating individual, agreed.

No problem. Dunno how it slipped through the cracks on me.

The Infelice crew were a bunch of megalomaniacal psychopaths.

I believe I remember these particular stories about the guy who was killed going up the stairs and then Hal Smith in the kitchen because of the graphic nature and the way it was explained.

If memory serves me, the Infelice crew wanted like $6,000 from Smith and he offered something like $2500-3000. I recall one of the guys telling him he was "trunk music."

I actually came across the court transcripts of the Infelice trial. I recall Infelice making some comment like: " hey, I've had a good life and I'm not beefing on anybody." I believe he passed away in prison.

For some reason, and I believe it was the brutality and graphic description involved, I can recall this story. Of all the stories I've read, this one really stands out in my mind. BRUTAL.

Rocky Infelice was a war hero. Covert ops if I'm not mistaken. I know he spent time behind enemy lines.

Solly D was the one who told Smith he'd be trunk music. Solly D was never their muscle though. He was more of a charismatic earner/gatherer of men. Guys on the street really didn't take him seriously when Infelice started to put him in charge of rackets because he was a little guy with a college education. I remember when he was trying to move in on a porn shop/something or other owner who belonged to Vic Spilotro at that time. Spilotro thought it was a joke. Rocky I then intervened & Spilotro got the message & backed off.

why was the fucking underboss talking business with this goofy?

this mothafucka started asking questions about a murder and nobody picked up on it

prime example of why u don't put the killer in charge just because he's a murderer

My mistake, Rocky was a paratrooper.

This is undoubtedly the most informative page on Infelice available. It was a blog started by one if his nieces:

Infelice had a tendency to be a little bit sloppy, but keep in mind, BJ Jahoda was not just some goof. They're making him out to be a somewhat innocent bystander in this piece, but he was a prolific bookmaker that did a shit ton of dirt with these guys & had been running with the Infelice crew for years.

Great find! Really makes you wonder what kind of money they're still making on the book today. This is one guy, well connected obviously that did over 20 million a year in bets. Bookies in Chicago were a dime a dozen back then, hell I knew 2 and every currency exchange likely was taking bets. And paying tax.

Hal Smith should'be just paid the 6K a month, he supposedly had all the NW burbs so he likely was easily making 500K a year.

The village tavern still exists I was just there a couple weeks ago with the wife for the fish fry. The broasted chicken is great too. Oldest bar in IL.

Hey, not a problem, guy! My pleasure.

In my ever so humble opinion, this & the Cooley trial were the two most damaging indictments brought down against the Outfit. Considerably more damaging than family secrets.

The gotti trial was going on around the same time & that's Why the Jahoda & Cooley testimonies got overshadowed.

I'd say Cooley was the biggest hit. Imagine if he'd have gotten Marco too for life. That was the big fish that got away. I really enjoyed reading the book.

Hi Eric I would agree with you the Cooley did more damage even than Nick Calabrese. The main reason would be the fact that Cooley helped to break the Outfit's grip on the court system and he helped loosen their death grip on the first ward. Calabrese may have helped get guys convicted on more serious and longer charges, but Cooley made them have to change the way the Outfit did business all together.

Things would have been way different in Chicago had Cooley not flipped.

Rocky I's crew was a lot bigger, much more powerful, and had a LOT more juice on the street than D'Amico's guys ever had or ever will have.

Infelice was the underboss of the entire Outfit after Joe Nick passed.

Thanks for sharing that. Somehow, I'd never come across it.

Back in Chicago, I actually have in storage 5-6 of the actual wiretap cassette tapes from the Jahoda/Infelise/DeLaurentis case. Back in the late 90s, I was helping to clear out an old warehouse on the near north side that was slated to be condo-ized, and there was a whole pallet of boxes filled with cassette tapes. Intrigued by the notations on the tapes, I decided to take a few with me, and later I realized what I had.

The tapes I had were all of Jahoda and Solly D or Jahoda and Infelise, mostly in cars but also from a restaurant by 25th and North Aves. Sound quality was not so great, and I've not listened to all of them, but what I did listen to was interesting enough.

Wow, so You were the guy that posted in that Infelice family blog?

How the heck does that happen? Was it seriously just by chance? If you ever get your paws on those tapes again, there are countless people that would love to hear them!

Eric - how many Outfit guys live up in Barrington/Long Grove area?

Question for Huron does Solly D. or anyone still take a cut of the high stakes card/dice games that Jahoda/Infelice crew used to host up in Lake County/NW burbs?

Totally by chance. Dumb luck that initially piqued my interest in the subject. I'm no longer living in the US, but next time I'm back in Chicago, I'll dig them up and see what I can do to make them available.

I think that is relatively disputed, but no doubt that Rocky took over Cicero after Joe Nick died and that the Cicero crew was the dominant crew through the 1980s and 1990s. Rocky was therefore very powerful...but perhaps a notch or two below Sam Carlisi, DiFronzo and Lombardo (not to mention Aiuppa and Cerone who were still giving orders from prison).

I remember when this case happened. Rocky's friends held this insane fundraiser for his legal fund at Carlisle Banquet Hall in Lombard. All the guys who made bail in that same case--Solly D, Mike Zitello, etc. showed up and I remember wondering why they were still making contributions to Rocky when they had their own expenses to deal with.

How was Lombardo near Infelice's status?? Smaller crew, dying rackets, etc

Joe Nick's was far, far more dominant than Grand Avenue

^^^^^^^

lombardo had more clout (bribing senators, being blessed by accardo, etc)

lombardo was a boss before infelice was even made
