The local Bishop of our diocese visited Matty's school today and various hand picked kids (basically the cleanest and cleverest) were allowed to ask him questions. Matty's question?

"What's it like being the Boss?" Apparently he nearly wet himself laughing and said it was the best question he had ever been asked. That's my boy, not backwards in coming forwards lol

Well done, Matty! clap

I worked for one of the biggest companies in America. The company required executives to have "upward evaluations," in which their subordinates reviewed their boss' performance and were free to comment on how they could improve.

One day our CEO visited a management training group I was in. After his pep talk, he invited questions. A brave woman in the group piped up: "What do your direct-reports say about you in their upward evaluations?" We laughed so hard that the CEO moved on to another question without replying to that one. lol

I think Matty will someday find out for himself what it's like to be the boss.

He did a good job.

Reminds me of a line from the all time great John Gregory Dunne novel, "True Confessions" (also a great movie), in which the Cardinal Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles describes himself as "an accountant in ermine." lol

Good job, Matty.

My husband had a meeting with the CIO one day, an open forum Q and. A kind of thing. They were supposed to write their questions on index cards and hand them up so they were anonymous. Our daughters wrote "How do you keep a CIO busy for hours?" on both sides of an index card and stuck it in their father's computer case. Luckily he found it before it made it up to the CIO.

Well said Matty, to the point. He could have followed up with, "how much wine to drink each day?"

In one of those "team building" exercises I asked our General Manager (he was 5th level, I was 2nd), "what do you do all day?" I shot me a look and then I then tried to phrase it in a more professional, kiss-ass way, "I mean, at our level we don't know or have an appreciation for all you do each day."
