But Thatcher and her cronies shut all the pits and now we import our coal from places like China and Venezuela. Sound and practical business sense!! There are kids right out of high school grabbing jobs, which can bring in as much as $55,000 to start. The living in that region is good too. As Turnbull said, the Dakotas are begging for workers. Many financial industries are located there as real estate and local taxes are cheap. A young friend took a phone loan servicing position, starting in the mid-30s, but he can rent a roomy apartment for $300/ month and the cost of living is low. They're begging people to move out there.
