Hello, I was wondering if there were any visual maps of the Territory lines of the five families in NYC. Mainly during the 70s. Did they even have territory? Did they just all work different rackets in cooperation?
Also if anyone knows NYC territory maps for other gangs like the irish gangs jewish mob and the african american street gangs.
Any help would be appreciated

The five families do not operate geographically. So it isnt like the Gambinos have Manhatten or the Bonannos have brooklyn. But certain families are more influencal and powerful in certain areas at the same time

interesting thank you I thought this was the case. It seems as though lower level street gangs are more in with the territorial boundaries.

The families interact alot, which leads to speculation that the families don't have well defined geographic turf.

The Bonannos had, in my opinoin, a well defined turf in the 80's. The Knickerbocker village area of Little Italy was exclusively theirs. It included the apartment buildings and the NY Post distribution building. They also had North Brooklyn from Williamsburg/Greenpoint up Metropolitan Avenue into Middle Village/Maspeth. There are still remants of the Bushwick Knickerbocker Avenue crew operating a few blocks north in Ridgewood. Massino his crew lived in Maspeth. Soony Black was in Williamsburg/Greenpoint. And when Basciano decided to off Randy Pizzolo, he chose Metropolitan avenue as the execution site and used his North Brooklyn guys.
That was only a few years ago. I think the Bonannos have distinct lineage in Northwest Brooklyn and southwest Queens. Greenpoint, bushwick, Maspeth, middle village and ridgewood.

Knickerbocker village (manhattan) and kinickerbocker avenue (bushwick) were two different things, with two different crews,just to be clear.

I was under the impression that the various LCN families in NYC used to have "territories" in that they were based in certain areas. They were known by these strongholds. With the closure of social clubs and wise guys deciding to live in suburbs instead of "the old neighborhood", along with the FBI naming the clans Lucchese, Bonanno, Genovese… lead to these old names dying off.

I may be wrong but:
Genovese's = West Side
Bonanno = Brooklyn?
Gambino = Little Italy?
Lucchese = Bronx
Colombo = ?

Not at all. all five families have crews in all five boroughs with some operating on the same avenues right next door to each other. No turfs at all .

Perhaps I used the wrong wording. I did not mean to state that a family was exclusively in any given area.

I do KNOW the Genovese's were known as "The West Side" among their crews and I think I remember Tommy Karate's book talking about Bonanno's being known as "Brooklyn", and "Gaspipe" mentioning that Lukes were known as "The Bronx".

I don't know about the ones with ? marks nor saying they exclusively operated in those given areas. I am pretty sure they were named after a portion of each city as opposed to "Gambino's", "Lucchese's" etc.
