Angelo Lonardo was considered one of the most important mob informants in history. He was the under-boss of the Cleveland LCN. that exposed the commission.

Angelo Lonardo was the highest ranking mafia member ever to flip at that time. In all fairness, he was railroaded by a few of his underlings who were dealing major narcotics behind his back. Just like in the movie Goodfellas when Paulie tells Henry how his friend Griggs got 20 years for saying hello to a guy selling junk behind his back.

Here are a few articles on Big Ange:

PATRICK CATALANO union President local 416 killed most likely for not wanting to give up the top spot.

PETE DI GRAVIO shot by sniper rifle fire on golf course. ROBERT BOGGESS was one of the main suspects. Shot for possibly getting to big for his britches. Not wanting to join the Cleveland family?

SALVATORE CARCIONE , ROBERT BOGGESS ,WILLIAM WHITCOMB , apparently Were all in a car and Whitcomb thought he was going to get clipped and A shootout ensued. Leaving Boggess and whitcomb dead. May of been A argument over money

John Conte Beaten to death, possibly for being A witness in the model cities case or beef with Greene. Police suspected Danny Greene , retaliation for Gallo bombing of Greene?

JOSEPH KOVACH former teamsters business agent gun down in his front yard. Was enforcer for the fire restoration racket. most likely by Greenes orders

JOSEPH ILLILUS was killed by ELMER BRITTAIN at a card game.Ritson and mctaggert held the others at bay at gunpoint while Elmer went to work. HE was convicted and only got six
months for manslaughter

Henry "boom boom" Grecco killed by JOSEPH BONARRIGO , because he refused to make a bomb for Joe and tipped off his intended victim.

ELMER BRITTAIN killed for running gambling operations for/with Greene. After Greene was gone he was a sitting duck. HE was in fear for his life after shooting Illilus feared retaliation for that.

CHARLES GRISHAM associate of Delsanter killed by Pitt first causality in Cle/pitt war

JOSEPH BONARRIGO killed by loose (at the behest of Sinito according to big ANge) and A hells angel frank fencl who pleaded out to the crime

I don't think he didn't know. That is my opinion . HE had to know but may have pretended he didn't. like saying he was loaning the cash to Gallo knowing it was financing the drugs. His own brother was into dope. I just have to believe he wasn't that stupid.
