A month or two late on this but I thought it would be interesting to post known memberships of each of the Five Families from 1963, around the Valachi hearings; 1988, 25 years after the hearings, and 2013, fifty years after the hearings. Now these will probably include some errors but remember that this is what the government knew, *at that time*. There may also be discrepancies in names, but I have tried to change as many as I could. There may also be some names of deceased members who have died, but their deaths may not have been known to the government at the time these membership rolls were released.

Members to make all three lists:

Orlando Coraluzzo
Mario Gigante
Louis Manna

I also did some math:

From 1963 to 1988, the estimated number of members decreased by 21.37%. From 1988 to 2013, it decreased by 30.77%. If this rate continues, by 2063 the family will have decreased by 40.31%, leaving approximately 81 members. By 2088, that number would have decreased by 58.05% to 34. Let's say, for the sake of argument, that a crime family can be considered "extinct" once its membership drops lower than 25 (probably the lowest estimate for any currently "active" family). If these rates remain the same, the Genovese crime family will become defunct by 2106.

Just some food for thought.

Thanks, I just overlooked his name. I have added him to the list of captains.

The West Side is so secretive there's likely more members we just don't know about.

Similar to what I mentioned in your Gambino thread, the more recent official estimate for the Genovese family is about 200 members. That was cited by the prosecution in the case against former acting boss Danny Leo. And the prosecution also cited 200 members in the case against former Gambino ruling panel member Danny Marino.

Ivy, see my post in the Gambino thread. Maybe I should change it to "known" members?

Yeah, I saw it and I figured that's what you meant. Obviously we mob watchers aren't going to be privy to all the names the feds have. And we haven't seen the feds release a full list of names in any of the NY families in a quarter century.

Hello,

I was just browsing the web and came across this site. I looked down your genovese list and didnt see a few guys names that I hear on the streets in staten island that are part of the genovese guys and rumor has it they are all made. And they street names I here for them

John "Little John" Giglio- was recently released from prison
Ronnie Besser-
Anthony "Crazy Anthony" Carollo -Recently did time
Joseph "Big Joey" Bilella- recently released from prison
Ernest "Junior" Varacalli- recently released from prison

Dont know if the names are spelled correct, but I looked them up on the bop.gov immate site and they come up

John G. IS A Business guy, does this and that to make money
Ronnie B- I hear is very sick and just sits back, does his thing
Anthony C- Was recently kicked out of local 14 operating engineers
Ernest V.- I heard he has a auto salvage yard somewhere and just is retired
Jospeh B- He stays quiet and goes to work , I think local 15 operator. But he has strong ties to the gambinos, very close with Capo Lou Devito, Jack the Nose step son.

This what I hear as far as genovese on the street in si

This list is missing Johnny Brescia and Tommy Figgs Brescia is a skipper and Figgs is the Underboss...

A March 1986 raid on DiBernardo's office seized alleged "child pornography and financial records." As "a result of the Postal Inspectors seizures [a federal prosecutor] is attempting to indict DiBernardo on child pornography violations" according to an FBI memo dated May 20, 1986.
Thousands of pages of FBI Files that document his involvement in Child Porn

A new book is out detailing the rise of Vito Genovese, titled "the Deadly Don: Vito Genovese, Mafia Boss," by Anthony M. DeStefano. It details Vito's early days, his rise in the mob, his escape to Italy to avoid a murder case , friendship with Mussoliini's crowd, return and eventual rise to the top of the crime family that came to bear his name.
