Is Sammy Gravano's book any good?

I invoke my right under the 5th amendment of the United States constitution and decline to answer the question.

I thought it was an excellent book. It's been a long time since I read it so don't recall if he addressed his little ecstacy ring in Arizona. He was a fool. Had it made and was allowed to keep a lot of money and could have been happy out there but got too greedy.

I liked the book.Sammy gave us some good insights into his character and took us inside the Gambino's day to day life.

He took responsibility for most of his actions, and although he did occasionally downplay his evil side,it wasn't excessive.

He readily admits that his decision to turn rat was based solely on Gotti's intention to throw him to the wolves, and Gravano was smart enough to strike first.

I agree with those who feel that Sammy blew it in Witsec. He had it made and totally screwed himself.Reminds me of Jack Abbott and OJ. Both got a second chance and ruined it.

Great read. As time goes on I really do question if it's all factual but still a great read

Biggest load of garbage. Great read alright, but it's mostly nonsense, just a pathetic attempt to make himself out in a better light. Full of inconsistencies if referenced against other mob books relating to the Gotti/Castellano era. I read it twice, realised it was a POS, then sold it at a flea market for 50cents- was all it was worth.

It was worth reading - one time only. Gravano is such a hypocrite. First he denigrates Castellano as a mere "racketeer" while he and Gotti were big, he-men "gangsters." Then he repeats every bit of praise Castellano ever gave him. And all those murders he did without question. He'd have made a model SS officer for the Nazis.

I agree. I enjoyed it, but never had a desire to read it again.

Were we reading the same book? Sammy tried to justify everything he did by saying it was out of his control.

A bit self serving but an all around good read. Sammy obviously left out a lot of details about his early days (murders) with Shorty Spero's crew and his time under Toddo's flag. You can tell he omitted certain stuff due to legal issues.

It's marginal, self serving and not entirely accurate. That being said, an outsider from "the neighborhood" would find it a compelling read. To me, just one more Skipper or Boss cooperates, rolls over, gets a deal, writes a book while the guys in the street get the time.

When it was first published I was mortified that my place was mentioned a couple times, now I figured It might jam me up and I would be associated with him, although he did live a couple blocks away In Staten Island.....a lifetime ago.

1st Post; Nice to be here
