After watching the season 4 finale of Boardwalk Empire I have to say the fight scene with Eli and Knox is easily among the best ever. It got me thinking of other great fight scenes in TV shows and movies like Good Will Hunting, Training Day, Fight Club obviously, Breaking Bad, Brdwlk Empire and plenty others. I wanted to know what are some of your favorite and/or most memorable fight scenes you've seen on TV or in movies over the years

Two of my favorites:

Robert Shaw fighting Sean Connery on a train in "From Russia With Love".

Ernest Borgnine and Lee Marvin fighting on a train in "Emperor of the North".

Seems trains and good fights go together.

Very realistic fight choreography. I was rooting for Eli.

Excellent one!

The bareknuckle fights in "Hard Times" (Charles Bronson) get my vote.

Just about most of the fight scenes from The Raid, hand down for now.

And like any good brawl it ends with the combatants staggering home drunk, and singing arm-in-arm.

yes Pizza boy, The Get Shorty scene was good one. Another classic was Casino's ending of the killing of Joe Pesci and the Untouchables bat beating scene. Would post but don't know how!

The ending of Casino is hardly a fight, more of a gruesome beating with a baseball bat..haha

Uma Thurman and Darryl Hannah in Kill Bill. Anybody can do a Hollywood punch scene, but sticking someones face into the vilest toil;et bowls and plucking someone's eye out from their skull is talent.

Eli beating Knox to death was such a great one.

The Brad Pitt and Jim Gandolfini movie that came out last year, KILLING THEM SOFTLY has a scene where Ray Liotta gets a pretty awesome beating.

Probably not in the major movie category but...

Every time I hear "fight scenes" I have to think of the movie, "They Liver" with Roddy Piper(sp), an ex wrestler I think.) Don't know if it's the best but one of the longest fight scenes. Seemed like it went on forever. lol I actually like that movie tho. It was more a fun type flick.

That was one of the most brutal fight scenes ever filmed, Yogi. Unfortunately, the movie pretty much sucked. And I had high hopes for it because it was based on George V. Higgins's "Cogan's Trade," which is a classic in post-modern crime fiction.

I think the problem was that they should have left it a period pice and set it in the '70s. When I read Higgins today he brings back that decade so vividly that I can practically smell the polyester whistle.

Check out the book, Yogi. I'd never steer you wrong with a book recommendation; you know that smile.
