I dont think any families take orders from new york today. but if your talking about the past i think the two families that new york has had the most influence over has been the decalvecantes and the philly families, the decalvecantes more because of their close proximity to new york and the philly family because of their bosses relationship with new york bosses. With Angelo Bruno being allies with Gambino, later Scarfo being close with Bobby Manna, Stanfa was also close with the Gambinos but after he went to Jail and Merlino came to power phillys and New yorks close relationship pretty much ceased to exist. And since Vinny Ocean flipping and so many indictments in the late 90s and early 2000s that has lead to the decalvecantes current much weakened state New York really has no need for the decaves to be taking orders from them.

Maybe the whole east coast or what left on the east coast.

From now on, nothing goes down unless I'm involved. No blackjack no dope deals, no nothing. A nickel bag gets sold in the park, I want in. You guys got fat while everybody starved on the street. Now it's my turn.

Yeah, I think the days of NY giving other families their marching orders are over. That said, NY does still seem to have a certain amount of influence over the remaining families within their reach, i.e. New Jersey, Philadelphia, and New England.

with that being said, I'd love to see any philly/nj/boston wiseguy ignoring an "advise" from, let's say, the Genoveses...

I think that New York would fear Philadelphia instead of it being other way around. Philadelphia seems to have the tougher gangsters over the last seveal decades.

The Genovese would not even remotely fear Philly today. It may seem like Philly is tougher but really the Genovese are tougher and more importantly smarter.

I am relying on all the murders over past decades in Philly, and how many cases that seem to keep springing up there as compared to ones in New York. The New York City cases seem to involve out of work chefs (Geritano) angry restaurant owners (B.F. Guerra) and other fringe associates.

There's less hits with the Genovese because they're smarter and only for the most part do hits when there's no other option.

Genovese are probably smarter, but would that not make them want to avoid crazy types like the gangs in Philly ? The last thing I would think they would want is trouble from another city making it's way into New York. And I am just guessing that Philly would not be willing to listen to any orders given by an outside family.

Lol at new york fearing philly in any way, not that there would ever be a war in this day in age anyway. They would most likely partner together if it was mutually beneficial like how scoops licatas north jersey crew partners with the lucchese jersey crew with some bookmaking and gambling. As for philly having more mob hits, here is a pretty good lists of mob connected hits or attempted hits since 2000,courtesy of ivyleague, the lists pretty much shows where the majority of the mob hits take place.

I have to agree with Dellacroce no way any of the 5 families in N.Y fear Philadelphia or any other Italian mafia family in the states.

What the hell? I'm really surprised because I thought a lot more mobsters were whacked in a given year. In fact, many of these victims were associates.

I guess I was influenced by stories about gang warfare and the Sopranos.

You shit-kicking, stinky, horse-manure-smelling motherfucker you! If you ever get out of line over there again, I'll smash your fucking head so hard you won't be able to get that cowboy hat on. You hear me? Fucking hick. -Nicky (Casino)

Philadelphia has been a violent family for over 30 years. It doesn't mean they've ever been a threat to New York. It's a case of the big leagues and the minor leagues.

What? You can't possibly be serious...

Economical diversity, overall wealth, stability, reliability and a strict administration are the main factors that separate top-tier families from all the other mob "leftovers".

Not guns. Not anymore.

Besides, Philly has once again shown how messy and amateurish can become when there's no one keeping all those hoods in line.

If Bellomo says jump, they better reply "how high?".

ny doesn't want shit to do with philly

the philly mob is like a streetgang from the 1960s

plus new york has to worry about the rampant wire wearing within their ranks

A decade or so ago what was left of the Tampa family was supposedly aligned with the Gambinos.

Interestingly, in this recent news piece about the upcoming Ligambi/Borgesi trial, they say the NY mob will ultimately decide who takes over in Philadelphia.

I may have posted this already but there was another Genovese hit in 2009, according to NY Times. Just sayin.

"ny doesn't want shit to do with philly

the philly mob is like a streetgang from the 1960s "

In that case, why don't the 5 families take orders from the blacks?

If the Five Families don't want anything to do with the Philly Mob because they're like a street gang, then the Five Families would also be afraid of black street gangs. So they would take orders from them.

...And the Chicago outfit would take orders from this guy:

StLouie - I just cannot see the 5 families of NY being afraid of black street gangs. They are not as disciplined as LCN
