Personally i think from the witnesses and evidence the feds have presented Borgesi should beat the case, but if he doesn't and he gets royally screwed...it couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.

I just hope someone could take a pic of George when the Judge says he was found guilty....he's gonna blow up like a nuke in the courtroom. They better have some extra security there just in case but i'm sure they already plan to.

Its pretty ironic that you think the government is messing with Georgie's life. This guy is a multiple murderer who has made a living destroying other peoples lives. Now it doesn't matter to me whether they get off or not, but if they don't, its not exactly a miscarriage of justice. Everything needs to be looked at in perspective.

I don't have a horse in this race, so I don't really care if they get off either. But I think what jmack is trying to say is, karma can be a bitch wink.

I have said it too, that if Borgesi gets off I just don't see him falling in line like a team player.if he does get off after the celebration I'm sure he will get right down to business.

What's it like in the lock-up at the Federal Bldg.Do these guys all have their own cells or is it more like an atmosphere where there is a day room where they play cards and watch TV.Sometimes I wonder are they kicked back in their own cells watching the games and bullshitting with each other. Not that I would want to be there in anyway but that at least makes it seem bearable and the time goes by faster.

Is there no chance all those years in prison changed Borgesi like it did Merlino? They were both pretty crazy when they got locked up.

The family's pretty small but there all very dangerous. So a old guy like scoops an northern jersey knows he got a bunch of crazy killers rite down the road must make him feel good at any sitdown. The whole luchese crew is goin to jail and that's like 30 guys.they were killing a lot compared to the NYC family's.

A lot of seniors can do prison time like any youngsters. Short stints don't faze these life-long criminals. And 63 isn't too old for a mobster.

And how deeply involved was Scoops? Was he really into anything other than typical loan sharking and gambling rackets? The fact that the Feds had next to nothing on him makes me think he wasn't.

Ya thats basically all the Noth Jersey crew is into nowadays. exactly the feds had nothing on him but him shooting the breeze with the gambinos at the lunch, it was a defiantly a stretch to involve him in this case but i guess the feds didnt have anything to lose by throwing a conspiracy charge at him hoping they would get lucky. And i dont think Scoops is going anywhere.

I dont know exactly what his size is but ya hes pretty short, in recent pics he doesnt look like he weighs 120, looks like he got pretty buff while he was in prison.

That 5'3" height for Merlino comes from his page on the AC Casino exclusion list.

http://www.nj.gov/oag/ge/exclusion/merlino_joseph.htm

At one time Merlino was a jockey....either in his late teens or very early 20's...i forget which.

I'm surprised we've never seen him referred to as "the little guy." I've never in my life heard of a wiseguy that short who hasn't been referred to that way.

I might be wrong but i think Merlino is a little bit taller then 5'3"...i think he's around 5'5". The info on that exclusion list page comes from when he was arrested back in 1982 for stabbing some guy at a bar in AC with one of the Scafidi's.

But then again maybe he really is only 5'3"....who knows. lol

What am I missing,I mean I'm not quite sure how to take that.Sometimes you just try and picture the atmosphere of something to get a better idea of things.Sounds like you guys are from the area and may have visited somebody in there.Or even though I've never been there I should know exactly what it looks like.Clue me in on the ''joke''.

Bugger that. I want to start a petition to local philly goodfellas to rename him 'the jockey!'

MORGAN: Why didn't you fight him at the park if you wanted to? I'm not goin' now, I'm eatin' my snack.
CHUCKIE: Morgan, Let's go.

In pics of him standing next to Ligambi he looks at least as tall or taller than Ligambi. and video of him from mob talk, the one with him walking with Mikey Chang and a few others, he looks as tall as them. It can't be that everyone is short; that 5-3 must be incorrect.

The judge sent them back and told them to keep trying lol!

Jury to judge in Phila. mob trial: We're deadlocked

Jeremy Roebuck, Inquirer Staff Writer
January 13, 2014, 2:40 PM

Prosecutors trying the racketeering conspiracy case against reputed Philadelphia mob boss Joseph Ligambi heard the five words from jurors Monday they hoped never to hear again:

We are at an impasse.

The panel of nine women and one man told U.S. District Judge Eduardo Robreno that after 21/2 days of deliberations and two votes, they felt they could not come to unanimous verdict on either the case against Ligambi, 74, or his 50-year-old nephew George Borgesi.

Prosecutors have accused both men of overseeing the mob's loansharking and illegal gambling rackets across the region for more than a decade.

"A discussion late morning confirmed these are our final votes," the note read. "There was no unanimity on any one count."

After consulting with the lawyers, Robreno called jurors back into the courtroom, urged them to try again, and sent them back to deliberations.

He hoped to avoid the same type of jury deadlock that resulted in a mistrial for the two men during their first trial last year.

"I think it's way too early," Robreno said in court Monday. "We had 25 days of trial, and three days of deliberations."

Supposedly they should know pretty soon. Robreno won't let another mistrial happen it makes him look incompetent.

Jose do you have any family involved with the trial or just a hobby to go down there and watch. I had to watch a few federal trials when I was in law school. Sad part I never finished law school though
